Snow_Phoenix
Update #1: Zoas & Palys (Pics taken with yellow filter lens, 80% blues, 90% whites. White balance & brightness adjusted) Colors are darker & more accurate when zoomed out. When I zoom in too much (like in the second pic), it adds too much 'whiteness' to the pics & makes the colors pale/washed out a bit). 🤔 1 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Update #2: The John Deere leptastrea actually grows around the whiplash merlettis. The blue hairy shrooms are coloring back up quite well. 😊 The red pavona has beautiful ripples now. 🥰 1 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Update #3: GSP wall is still coming in: Harvey: Weeping willow toadstool: I still have hideous cyano though: 😕 Otherwise, tank is doing okay. Almost ~3 weeks of no WCs. 👍 2 Quote Link to comment

Murphs_Reef
Good to hear. I did notice the the part that's not in direct light (underside of the branches) there are no polyps. It's that normal to expect that? 2 Quote Link to comment

Yeah, actually there are polyps, but simply very little PE (there's still flesh underneath there). Mine seems to like more direct light - its branches are also growing up & towards the light. 1 Quote Link to comment
Murphs_Reef
Mine is on the sand at the moment as I'm still chosing where I want to put it. But I think I'll put it up on a higher ledge ? Quote Link to comment

Give me a bit of time - still not feeling 100% well, so I can't lift the buckets/pails to WC the tank. The sandbed and some portion of the rocks is covered in cyano though! 1 Quote Link to comment
Critteraholic
Sorry you're still not feeling well! No worries on the FTS. Take your time. And, oh joy, have fun with the cyano! (sarcasm intended!) 🙂 1 Quote Link to comment

growsomething
Has this been totm yet? Looks fantastic. Why do we not have a worldwide standard for day/month/year yet? I always mess up the international travel forms you have to fill out on planes. Just entered my mind when I saw your fts date! 1 Quote Link to comment
growsomething
Snow, are tanks stress relief for you or a cause of some cns stress? I go back and forth on this. I've just decided to tear down a planted 75g bcs of the stress it gives me, and I find my nano tanks to be stress relieving for some reason, even if it's the same amount of total volume. Hope you get some energy soon! 2 Quote Link to comment

Hope you get some energy soon! What is cns, if I might ask? Depending on the tank and the livestock, it can be either a source of relief or extreme stress for me. When my animals die unexpectedly, I sometimes handle it okay, and sometimes I break down completely - especially if the way they die is avoidable/preventable, and if I had bonded strongly to the animal (even fish counts). Usually my tanks run on auto-pilot. FW tanks are the easiest because all I have to do is WC it every 2 to 3 weeks - or as long as 2+ months if I'm ill. SW tanks are harder - especially reef tanks. My 60G FOWLR is doing okay and pretty much on auto-pilot - I just do general maintenance like stirring the sandbed & scraping the glass every week. And of course, feed the fish every day - but if I'm bedridden, they're still fine without manual feeding for 3 or 4 days because the fuge pumps a lot of pods into the tank, and the rocks are covered in algae (which is enough for the more herbivorous fish). The nano is more of a challenge because it's full of corals. But I just checked my calendar and it's been almost a month since I WCed this tank. I scrape the glass & stir the sandbed once a week (and siphon out/blow off the cyano). I do manually top-off the water once every 3 to 4 days. And I manually dose Alk, Calcium & Magnesium daily (I also dose the 60G daily as well). Nothing happens if I miss 2 or 3 days of dosing. Feeding is minimal because I currently only have one very elusive goby & one damsel in the tank, with very few inverts. I personally don't think my tank is TOTM-worthy or good enough by international standards. It looks colorful at a passing glance, but all the featured past TOTM tanks up there are like...way ahead of mine and balanced very well. I don't know how to put it in words, I feel like my nano - or any other tank I've owned actually, falls short in a lot of different ways. 😕 Don't get me wrong - I love my little reef and appreciate it, but I do have to cut corners because I'm on a super-tight budget too. I almost exited the hobby several times last year & this year too. It was so hard to keep all the animals, and keep everything going with the pandemic. But I'm holding on, for now. 1 Quote Link to comment
Critteraholic
Your tank is beautiful! I love it. I hope mine looks as nice as yours when I'm done. Keep doing what you can and I hope you feel better soon! 1 Quote Link to comment

I bet loads of people struggle to figure out why their tanks don't look that good in pictures lens.. 2 Quote Link to comment
