My fresh to saltwater acclimation journey for fish

Recommended Posts

I am trying to bring euryhaline fish from freshwater to saltwater.

here is my method:

I have a 60ml syringe and every 5mins I’ll take 60ml and put back 60ml until I have changed the whole tank out.
I just started today so here are my pics

The fish are now in my reef tank!

if it is successful i will be doing more euryhaline animals.

I originally thought the flow may be too high for them but they are swimming perfectly fine

Anyway i just saw this on reef builders and i soooo want to do a tank like that

I’ve heard people have had much better success with babies/young fish and once they breed in the tank the babies will have a much better tolerance.

Tired

I would get some mollies, keep them in a cycled freshwater tank for a week or so, and then try to acclimate them. They may just be in poor health from the pet store.

Also, be sure you have enough hiding places. Those are interesting tanks, but animals need places to hide, and some of those tanks are lacking in it.
