What is this? Some kind of worm skin?

Hello all,

 

Today I noticed my tank (8 months old, two clownfish and some corals are growing healthy) has a tube thing on the sand. It looks like a worm (quite smooth surface), but not moving.

 

I took a picture. I don't think it is my clownfish poop because this seems to be bigger and too long. The surface of it is quite smooth, and has no sign of feet or things like that... It is very soft, and when I "cut" through it, the way how it is torn broken definitely looks similar to some sort of biological tissue (definitely not poop)

 

This thing is almost two centimeters long, 1.5mm thick, and looks like a tube (although nothing in it).

 

I wonder if this could be "skin" of some sort of worm?

 

Can anyone confirm?

There was nothing in it. And I have not seen any fan worm in my tank - Will keep checking thanks

Yep, I'd say fan worm tube. I had a kind that made a tube exactly like that. Fan worms aren't very obtrusive animals, it's probably behind something now. They're harmless filter-feeders, no need to worry.
