The stocking ideas and thoughts must be keeping your mind ablaze. Not too much. I’m not even worried about the big tank much right now other than gathering everything. It’s going to be a little bit before it’s set up. I’m not even thinking about livestock right now. 1 Quote Link to comment
colormegone
22 hours ago, ReefGoat said: I’m going to help you out here. I will preface this with saying that I am not very good at taking pictures. But since you approve of the ones I have taken. I’ll tell you what I use. buy the Orphek lens kit. It’s very cheap for the quality you get. It even has a macro lens in it which is bad ass. once you take your pictures the phone camera wants to act a little funny even with the lens on. Sometimes I have to switch back and forth with video and photo and kind of move around a little bit. After a couple times switching back and forth and finding that right spot. You’ll see the colors you want to see and the blue wash out will go away. after you get the photos you approve of here’s where the magic happens. Go to the photos and go edit them. Literally the only thing you have to do is adjust the WARMTH and it’ll fix the remaining wash out of blue light. Ok thanks for the advice. I will order one up from Amazon. $35 for the 52mm kit. Hopefully it works since what I'm doing now ain't worth showing.😁 1 Quote Link to comment

I have the cash flow for the 50.3 waterbox, I am just not sure that I want to get into the larger tank just yet. I am envious as all heck. I was thinking about the tank today and wondering if I would keep both set up if I jumped on a new tank. For now..... 24 gal nano because it's easy. I will live vicariously through you and your setup for now!!! Yeah this is going to be slow going. I’m not going to be rushing the setup. If it’s wet by Christmas then I’ll be happy. I’m for sure waiting till after hurricane season. So no earlier than October for sure Quote Link to comment

Always a good time, and from the looks of it, you should receive it in the next few days! GREAT! It will definitely be hard just having the tank sitting in the house for a couple of months without getting it set up, but I agree with you in that waiting until after hurricane season for set up! As you know it has already been one hell of a season... I really like the IM SR80, and cannot wait to see it set up! It is nearly 3x larger than my current set up, and excited to see what you do with it. 1 Quote Link to comment

It’s a beast and who knows when I’ll be able to get some muscle to help me safely and softly move it into place lol. I figure I want at least 4 people just to be safe Quote Link to comment
ReefGoat
Almost a disaster with the coral shipping. UPS listed it as a “mechanical failure”. The corals came in at like 8pm last night. Were supposed to come in at 9am. So they sat in a UPS truck for like 12 hours longer than they were supposed to. I was extremely worried they’d be dead. Lights were off when I placed them in there last night. They were closed up. Didn’t know their fate until I got home from work. looks like they like the tank. 5 Quote Link to comment
ReefGoat
Goodies have arrived. I’ve always seen the bigger tank reefers talking about how exiting delivery day was. It was for sure a different experience than them just leaving the nanos on your porch. Was a little nerve racking to be honest….My last RODI system left a lot to be desired. It was when I had my 45g and I bought the cheapest one I could find. This time I went 7 stage and booster pump. Hopefully it works well. 1 Quote Link to comment
ReefGoat
I know it’s not that big of a tank. But this thing is freaking massive to me. Coming from a 22g and a 5g 2 2 Quote Link to comment

ReefGoat
So It was killing me I had it put eyes on the glass inside the crate. The instructions said only to refuse delivery if the wooden crate was damaged and mine wasn’t so I signed and accepted. In order to get to the tank I had to take the stand off the top of the crate. The box was so heavy that I had to take all the stand parts out individually. So I went ahead and build the stand and checked out the tank and it’s all good. No busted glass 😃 so the stand is now built and leveled. Also picked up my Hydras yesterday. 4 2 Quote Link to comment

ReefGoat
Worked on the water setup a bit today. Internet went down at work and after waiting around for 2 hours I just Antonio Brown’d it and rolled out. I know it’s not ideal for when I need to change the cartridges. But this was a major compromise with the wife. She doesn’t mind the other part of the water plan with the containers and the plumbing sitting on top the counter in the laundry. But she drew the line at screwing a 2x4 across the wall and mounting the RODI system on the wall with all these colored hoses going everywhere. So under the cabinet it had to go. Still have to drill holes and run the supply, drain add container fill line. But I got the booster pump plumbed up. 1 Quote Link to comment
ReefGoat
My plan for weekly water storage is small. I’d absolutely love to have two 100g containers in my garage all plumbed up and emergency water on deck. But my garage is not air conditioned and I have absolutely no place to put a large water mixing station in my house. I do have a closet in the garage that stays cool that would work. But that’s an upgrade for next year. It would be labor intensive to get it ready before October. My 10% weekly is 8 gallons. So I figure I’ll keep at all times in the laundry in a small mixing station. 2 10g White Brute trash cans. Plumbed up with a pump for mixing, filling and user friendliness. It will be 10g of salt and 10g of fresh. In the garage I will always have on deck a 2 large 44g brute cans of RODI stored for emergencies. the only downside is that it will have to be temp controlled and then mixed up. It’s the best I can do. I figure in the event of a large water change emergency. I’ll be a day out from having the 100% water change. Better than nothing. I’ll always have 20g ready to go temperature wise though. Quote Link to comment

ReefGoat
I don’t know that I ever mentioned this. But this is a kitchen tank. These pictures really put into perspective how small this little unit is lol. That’s a freaking Kurig Coffee maker next to it 😂 2 Quote Link to comment
Rhetoric
Top downs look great. I love nano tanks. Seeing where people keep them is half the fun. Coffee and corals has a nice ring to it. 1 Quote Link to comment

Although when people are over I have to take the magnet out. It’s almost like there’s a big inviting sign on it that says “touch me” lol 1 Quote Link to comment
