Started skimmer this morning.

let the break in cycle start.

cup drain hose is full open dumping back into return.

So I had some time to shim up my skimmer, was not sure what direction I was going to take. Then came up with a good idea that seems to work great with the Red Sea skimmer.

I took the spare piece of return line that came with my 170, cut it into  4 x 1 1/2” pieces, removed the rubber skimmer feet and pressed the feet through the tubing and Voila.

water level set. And much easier for detritus to self clear from under skimmer.

we like to take off in the summers for rock climbing trips.

try to reduce the burden on parents and neighbours.

I would get my neighbour to feed the fish when I’m gone, then I would come home to find a chair in front of my other tank with a couple empty wine glasses and a bottle of my good wine gone?

so I’m hoping to save on wine here in the long run. 😎

Bubbles made his way into the tank. Bubbles has been with us for about a year.

And for those wondering, I wanted to name the fish Darth Vader, but my at the time six year old had other ideas.💁

clown fish joined by James earl jones, out 2 year old yellow watchman goby, and a 6 line wrasse. Added some more live rock from the EVO.

going to leave the lights off for about another 2 weeks to a month. Except for feeding.

Skimmer finally settled in.  Hose stilts worked great. Running dry now.

Made two 1.63L dose containers, from glass spaghetti jars from the Dollar store.

fit great in the space with some room to spare. 4” OD containers.

Some say that those Marine Pure Bio Balls leach off aluminum into the water.  And interfere with SPS growth. I use Brightwell these days

Not sure. Would have to confirm with testing. Had them in EVO for about a year or so. Helped bio filtration greatly in a AIO nano.  And since space is tight. Good flow exposure in this area as well.
