utahano
Can someone help me identify what this is. I am staying in a cabin in Scotland and found these in the water from the shower yesterday after a plumbing leak (broken pipe) which allowed the water to get contaminated with dirt. I thought an earthworm, but it looks to have legs. Picture Quote Link to comment
Reefkid88
Looks to me like a millipede. 2 Quote Link to comment
Ratvan
Could be drain fly larvae, used to get them in the toilet where i lived before the utilities replaced the old water pipes, also seem to be very resistant to bleach Quote Link to comment
j.falk
You have saltwater showers in Scotland? 🤯 1 Quote Link to comment
Tired
I agree that it looks like a millipede. They can make a bad smell and will probably make the water taste bad if there are a lot, but they aren't dangerous. It was probably living in the dirt. However, this is a forum about saltwater reef aquariums. Try this Reddit thread for bug questions in the future. https://www.reddit.com/r/whatsthisbug/ Quote Link to comment
utahano
The thing is it is really, really, really small and really skinny. I took this picture very zoomed in. Would millipedes be this tiny? Quote Link to comment
Tired
Yes, millipedes can be very small. It's either a little species, or a baby. You can tell it's a millipede because it's segmented and rounded, has all those legs, and has a round head with 2 antennae. Quote Link to comment

Would millipedes be this tiny? Yes,I have seen them from a 1/4"-1/2" all the way to over an inch. We get them bad here in Florida. When I went to go move my aunt from her house there was about 200 dead ones under hee guest bed. Gave off a very weird, not nasty but weird smell. Quote Link to comment
