Hygger Wavemaker

Hello nano reef fam.

Today, my 2nd Jebao Wavemaker went out. I've always cleaned it and maintained it, but yet again, it died. So no more Jebao. I was looking at some options, and found one that interests me for under $80.

The brand is Hygger, and it is the mini Wavemaker. Does anyone have experience with these? Cannot find to much on them.

Thanks in advance!

I'm so done with Jebao lol

Hmm.

I guess I'll just wait for the Nero 3. If you got the extra $50 in your budget, you should go for the Aqamai KPS - very good pump. Mine is still going strong 1.5 years later.

Hmm it looks a little big

@RedTheReefer eh I just ordered the Hygger lol. I literally have nothing to use in the mean time so I just needed to order. But I will let you know how it is when I get it

Ok. Sweet. What size tank is this going in?

Following along as well. I was considering this pump or the Jebao SLW-10.

I have the Slw-10 and even on the lowest setting in my I’m nuvo 25 lagoon it’s too strong for my lps in that tank. I ended up going for two Elfux 660 running 50% on surge mode and all LPS are very happy now.

I've been looking for a pump for my 9 GAL rectangle that can create a nice standing wave for the most part with just enough flow.  I thought the SLW-10 was the one but I'll take a look at the EFlux. Thanks

I have one in my Evo 5, I like it. Swapped it out with the Jebao slw-10. It’s smaller than the slw-10, but it can’t be angled. Five time periods throughout the day if you want different flow at different times.

So at the end of the day, you like the SLW-10 more? You think it will be effective at creating a nice standing wave in a 9 GAL rectangle? Or would the SLW-20 be better?

I like the hygger more because it’s smaller, has smaller gaps in the intake so I worry less about fish getting sucked in, and its controller is nice and allows 5 different flow rates/patterns throughout the day, but I think they’re both really good and have slws in my Biocubes and just bought another hygger and need to decide which Biocube to use it in. Not sure about a standing wave...

Also, I like both more than my mp10.

Both that I have ordered through amazon arrived really fast... one the next day and one within a couple days. Did you reach out to Amazon?

So I've been a big fan of these Hyggr wavemakers for a while now.

The controller is confusing, but once you get down the pattern behind how the numbers work, it's quite easy to remember. I used one in my 25 Nuvo and 2 in my 50 Nuvo... All have since been replaced with MP10's, as I just simply wanted more control over what was happening in my tanks when I was away for work.

But, they are rock solid. I've never had one fail. 2 of those pumps are still working in a 40G Nuvo at my sons house. The other one I still have just for a back up for some reason. They are a nice alternative to the big names, and not nearly as cost prohibitive.

Is that more or less a Nero knockoff?  I.e. no adjustability?

Hmm I honestly am not sure. I think the nero look more like the Jebao slw. But yeah, the Hygger cannot be tilted or anything. But it does have a controller to control flow etc.

Glad you finally got it!

Agree, I think the jebao slw series seems more similar to the AI Nero. The hygger cannot be tilted, so it is similar to the vortex mp series in that regard. But it is highly programmable with 5 different time periods for which you can separately program the flow strength, speed, and flow pattern throughout the day.

Yea, that looks similar too.....I guess "A Jebao by any other name is still a Jebao to me."

Would you sell the hygger to me.. I have a fluval evo and my wavemaker just died.. I need to upgrade to one of these but I’m 16 and can’t afford 80 atm.. would you take 40 for it?

Have one of these.

One problem....this pump only pushes 500 gal....max. Not even sure if its that strong. I have a variety of pumps including multiple Koralias, an MP10, and several Chinese power heads. The hygger moves about as much water as my 400gph power heads.

Fine for a small nano or for filling a small dead spot.
