RoyalGramma001
Hi I have an Aqueon aquarium lid and I was wondering if it reduces PAR in aquariums for coral? Quote Link to comment
paulsz
I think so.The lid will get salt creep or dirty and will block light. Not entirely sure if a clean lid will reduce the par though. We'll see what others say. I'm curious too Quote Link to comment

Yes, but not enough to matter. Turn the light up a bit if you see a negative reaction in your coral. Just go slow and see how they react. Quote Link to comment
RoyalGramma001
Ok no coral yet but very soon I was just wondering since I have a current USA marine loop led and I wanted an anemone for my tomato clownfish pair so I was just wondering. Quote Link to comment
Brewer
Orbit marine says on one web page that a "dirty" glass cover or lens can reduce output by up tp 50%. Google and you'll find the website post. Has to do with picking settings on the light. If the glass is clean, i think youre good. I wonder if condensation reduces output or maginifies/changes it like an additional lens? IME if you put orbit lights close to glass cover, the heat eliminates condensation though... so in such case, just keep it clean... I like the glass cover to reduce evaporation and to keep arrant waves in the tank. Quote Link to comment
