Tired
Not entirely sure that's dinos. It's so common as to be expected for algae blooms to happen while a tank is young, and a lot of your rock looks like it was pretty bare before this. 1 Quote Link to comment
Arun
Do I need to do any? Or it will go away without taking any action? I do have soft coral and gonipora Quote Link to comment
Tired
Keep nutrient levels up, give it time, and it will very likely go away. Did you start the tank with live or dry rock? 1 Quote Link to comment
Arun
ok. I started my tank, with Dry rock which was used in another tank. while getting from them, it was kept dry out of the tank. Quote Link to comment
Tired
How long was it dry out of the tank? It may not have been established well in the first place, and if it got dried out, that would kill most of the stuff living on it. It's normal to have a lot of algae blooms at first, when using rock without much life on it. The different kinds of algae will compete with each other for awhile, until you have some of each kind instead of a lot of one kind. Quote Link to comment
lizzyann
Agree that it doesn't really seem like dinos! You should be ok, like Tired said, it's probably a normal algae bloom. Can you blow it off with a turkey baster? If it's the beginning of hair algae that could be a pain to remove manually, but just diatoms or something should go away on its own. 1 Quote Link to comment
Clown79
Doesn't look like dino's and your current nutrient levels isn't a favourable condition for dino's. Dino's become a problem for ultra low to no nutrient system. Most likely cyano, gha, other algaes. Pretty normal in a new tank. Keep up with waterchanges, ensure you have a cuc to eat up the algae. Are you using tap water? 2 Quote Link to comment
