findingnemo23
I just witnessed my banded coral shrimp eat one my my blue legged hermit crabs. What CUC will the shrimp leave alone? I would like to have a few nassarius snails to clean the algae from my tank but I'm concerned now that the shrimp might be too violent. Any thoughts? Quote Link to comment
seabass
I assume that you feed your shrimp. If it's well fed, I would guess that you could keep most types of snails and hermits. Quote Link to comment
j.falk
Banded coral shrimps are the devil. I'll never have one in my tank again. 😈 1 1 1 Quote Link to comment
findingnemo23
I feed the hermits and shrimp pellets once a day. There are always pellets on the bottom of the tank for them to eat Quote Link to comment

I'd draw the line when it decides to go after fish personally, so keep an eye out for that too. 2 Quote Link to comment

I plan on adding fish that can defend themselves like clowns, paired with a royal dottyback or 6 line wrasse Quote Link to comment

mcarroll
Are you sure that your hermit didn't molt and that is what the banded shrimp ate? In other words, you saw them fighting/whatever and saw the shrimp drag the hermit out of his shell and eat it? (Somehow I can only imagine the roles being reversed with the crab eating the shrimp. LOL) Quote Link to comment

mcarroll
Good to hear!! When they molt, the exoskeleton they shed looks exactly like a hermit crab. 1 Quote Link to comment
