mollusk3D
well im setting up a 20 and i love arrow crabs. i plan on getting 2 false perc clowns, a neon goby, corals, and eventually an anemone, and im still unsure on a cleanup crew. i was wondering in an arrow would be to nippy or hurt corals. would it assist on cleaning? thanx carson Link to comment
phergus_25
i'v heard that they will shread softies, live aquaria says they aren;t reef safe so i eman yoy might want to hold off or set up a smaller tank for a arrow crab with LR tank Link to comment
Rmcm2424
At the LFS where I work we have (had he died today) an arrow crab in our 280 gallon reef but it mostly SPS, there are a few shrooms in there though and a pipe organ he never seemed to bother them, he's been in there for years. He was huge though, way too big for any nano tank... Link to comment
mollusk3D
how big? most sites ive seen say they get about 6 inches. on both live aquaria and marinedepot it says theyre reef safe Link to comment
Undertheradar
The 'arrow' part of it's name is no joke. They can, and often do spear smaller fish with it to eat. The neon gobies and clowns wouldnt be safe. As far as corals, I havent heard bad stuff about them there, but every one is unique. Link to comment
Rmcm2424
Well I guess 6 inches may be accurate. I think it would look pretty dumb and clumbsy walking around in a nano tank at the size he was. He would be bigger than most of the stuff in your 20...I'm not sure exactly where you would measure it at....I pulled him out today when he died....legs fully extended measured from tip of the legs to the top of his head I'd say he might have been a few more than 6 inches, 8" maybe....With their legs all spread out and full gorwn he took up a good bit of space....I'd say each leg was about 6 inches long Link to comment
mollusk3D
wow didnt know about that spearing part. guess ill take a few pounds of lr out of my tank when it cycles and make a species tank. Link to comment
Rmcm2424
Ours was also in with some smaller clowns and damsel and he was definitely big enough to eat them but never did, not saying yours will or won't just telling you my experience with the one we had. Link to comment
