Fluval Evo 13.5 Black Trim Safe?

I recently removed the black honeycomb trim on my fluval evo but it seems to have left black flakes on the inside and outside of the tank.

They seem to be hard to wipe off and require me to pick them off one by one with my nails.

I'm assuming they are safe for fish but to be on the safe side, has anyone found an easy way to remove them?

*camera wouldn't focus well up close*

You could use a razor blade to scrape the residue off and then rinse it - steel is softer than glass so it's a good way of removing stickers and crud without scratching it.
