Heidi’s20long
Here's a question that I been trying to research and could use some input. So i have a 20L with mixed corals (mush, hammer, acan, blasto, zoa's, stylo, favia, xenia, monti, trumpet,) I mix my own with Red Sea blue bucket and shoot for 1.024-.026. When I test my new batch I usually hit around 8.5 Alk 440 Ca Mg 1260-1280. So here's the question; Why are DT parameters higher then that? Running lately around 8.9 Alk 525 Ca Mg 1360. Trates under 10 and Phos around .05. I chalk it up to "extra stuff" I add to tank. Reef Energy AB plus, Phyto, Poly Boost, which all claim to have amino's. I do have 2part but have'nt had a need to add well over a month or so. I noticed when I keep my Trate's closer to 20 Alk goes to 8.4 and Ca goes down 450 or so. I do feed very heavy but I also export heavy. (oversize skimmer and 30% WC weekly.) Should I dial back on additives and let my DT parameters match new salt parameters or as long as corals are fine leave it be? Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
If it ain't broken, don't fix it. (So yes, if your corals are happy and everything seems alright, just leave the tank be) Quote Link to comment
