Hasted
Ordered a "Lava Bomb Aussie Lord" from WWC that was delivered one month ago today. This is the WYSIWYG picture of it. This is what it has looked like in my tank. For a month. It has been small and unhappy the whole time. I have noticed what looks like a Feather Duster on the left center area. Also a fuzzy thing? on the top right. Could these things be irritating it, causing it to stay closed? If So, should I dip the coral? Other info: Medium, indirect flow. Very low in tank under a pair of AI primes. Nothing else even close to be stinging. Parameters: These have been pretty steady for the whole month. This is one of my favorite corals, and definitely want it to thrive. Any and all help is appreciated. I will give any info needed! Edit: just a pair of clowns and snails in the tank as of now Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Has the flesh receded from the edges? Looks like it, but difficult to tell from the pic. Quote Link to comment

Tried to get a little more clear at slightly different angles. Lights are ramping up at the moment. Quote Link to comment
Tamberav
I would put it on the sand bed...both my acans are on the sand off in a corner hardly getting light. 3 Quote Link to comment
Clown79
I've always noticed mine prefer being on the sandbed with a moderate amount of light and flow. They also like being fed. Quote Link to comment

Definitely don't think it has to do with the fuzzy thing on it irritating it, then? Thanks for the replies, everyone. Quote Link to comment

I would just pluck/scrape it off with a fingernail. Quote Link to comment

I wish I didn't chew my nails! I need my wife's help! I will pull it back out when she gets home and see if she can help. Moved it into a corner. Set it on a rack since I just added a YWG + Pistol Shrimp and don't want them to bury it... too badly. Blasto is usually happy that's at the top. I think I bumped it. Quote Link to comment
Thrassian Atoll
Like others have said, my acans do best in lower light. Quote Link to comment
Hasted
I thought mine was pretty low light as it was barely above the sand bed. It is now a hair lower and also further away from the center of the light. Definitely less light, so hoping it helps. Went ahead and fed it a few hours after moving it. Before feeding: Then after feeding are these two: It still seems to be eating some (and each time before this). So, I assume that is an good sign? Quote Link to comment
Hasted
Update. Algae removed. Placed in corner. Two feedings (more than usual). It is looking thicker today. On the path of recovery? Quote Link to comment
