is my carrot sponge dead?

It's still orange, but has that red algea on it, and when i rub it, bits of it rub off. Also have a gorgonia with the same symptoms. red algae, but when i rub, the gorgonia falls apart. what do to.

 

note the sponge is in the larger tank on the top image and the gorgonia is on the lower one.
