I have a friend from the states getting me some copper and mailing it up here so I can pre-emptively treat. I've heard of too many locals having issues lately and the TTM while effective, is alot of work and stress and caused problems when I first tried it. Or I did it wrong which is also possible as a noob. I'm not able to add fish to the display until September so I'm not in a huge rush. I'll likely allow the display to stay a little longer at fallow than necessary, take my time. Yah I got a ton of pods too now, and the acan frag plug has Coraline on it so hoping that will kick start that for me. yah ttm would be a lot of work...I’m just going to observe for 4-6 weeks in QT if something happens I’ll see what I can do... good on you for getting a supply of copper though! no rush either, but hoping i get some healthy fish this time! Twiddling my thumbs... hoping for a watchman goby as the first fish to go back in.Had some algae breakout a little as I was feeding the tank too much trying to avoid bottoming out my nutrients, the Zoa plug that bought that algae in was getting covered, so I tried a hydrogen peroxide dip, seems to be doing some good so far!Still trying to figure out a spot for the Xenia, it doesn’t seem to like even minimal flow...And my BTA finally left it’s Little Rock it came on and is on the walkabout to find its new spot... living in the edge here! Does anybody know what this red branching circle is? Under the zoa, growing from under the plug...It seems to be growing Quote Link to comment
Ash1176 Posted September 3, 2020 Author Share Posted September 3, 2020 Been a while since I added to the thread... battled some hair algae, some low nutrients and heavy diatoms, the ugly phase is clearing up, although haven’t been hit with Cyano Yet🤞 QT tanks is still cycling... it’s been taking its sweet time, hoping nitrite zero’s out any minute now! Added a few corals this week, I needed to add some green to the tank! also got a porcelain crab, him and the nem are best buds now! I’ve usually made a point to stay away from the usual crabs, as I run a snail only CUC to avoid problems, but this guy is 100% reef safe no drama ! Quote Link to comment

I guess to close to the water splashes, was supposed to be waterproof but I guess I wasn’t diligent enough to clean the salt creep on them... the good news is that I upgraded to a prime HD! need to find a netted lid though! My QT is now ready so also picked up a purple firefish form the Lfs, I saw her eating Mysis shrimp at the shop, she seems healthy, super shy but that’s expected for a firefish! She will be in QT for a month, just observing for now got a nice little spring groung under one of my Zoa plug, gonna cut it off and attach to a Little Rock that I’ll glue to the back wall, hopefully it works out nice! So much so I ordered I some more corals hahaha, along with my long awaited cerith snails, These guys are going to town on the algae in my rock, can’t believe I waited this long to get them! here’s the good stuff: These cerith are pretty big around the 1”mark toxic blotchy hammer interstellar mushroom orange tip green torch and this Aussie branching Duncan was a freebie! But my purple firefish is still only In week 2 of QT so going to have to wait on that... i have a lot of green in the tank now, so I’m on the hunt for orange and red corals now! I’m also seeing early signs of Cyano in a few spots, I can’t really move flow around to hit those spots so will try and get as much out on my next water change and see how that goes! Ash1176 Posted October 11, 2020 Author Share Posted October 11, 2020 been a while since I updated! our little boy Finn (hahaha it was fish inspired I swear!) was born a few weeks ago and the blue light of the tank in our bedroom made it hard for him to sleep during the day, so we decided to move the tank downstairs (our record player just broke so it’s going there) The move went well, no casualties! decided to take off the black background, and try a backlight, its seems to fit nicely! GILLY the purple firefish finished up QT and was moved to the DT after the move, added the Red Sea diy net lid, she’s doing fine, still skittish, she’s had a hideout place behind the rocks, that’s her cone doesn’t get out much yet, cuz the cleaner shrimp scares the sh*t out of her! so I went to the LFS to pick up a new fish, and got a bicolor blenny, hahaha he’s even shyer in QT and not eating much right now but hopefully that gets better! got some new corals as I was right there l, I just had too! got some nice magician Zoa’s a ricordea Florida and cool little gorgonian! 1 Quote Link to comment

Hahaha yah when space is limited, put your QT in cupboard! yah he went in yesterday, he looks good, not too shy and is eating! I’ll post some pics! so yah my firefish finished QT 2 weeks ago she’s happy in the DT! Still hanging out in her cave but comes out a lot! Goby is in QT for month... and then it will be a clown, hoping for a mocha gladiator! it’s funny though, cuz this was stock list from when I first started, and things have changed and happened, but in the end I came back to that original stock! Yeah it sucks about the blenny, I really wanted one, and he seemed really cool for the little while I had him, it’s so true what they say, loads of personality! Maybe in the future! but yeah looking back at a picture of when I first got him you can notice his fins damaged! He had just got in the Lfs the same day I got him, I was in a rush, and didn’t pay too much attention. my mistake, lesson learnt though! thank you!!!
