JTT1981
General question. I have a bio cube 16G, I replaced the filter media that came with it with chemipure, carbon, live rock and phosguard. im getting ready to redo my filter media (replace all the older stuff) what Media do you experienced aquarium folks use or what would you suggest? DreC80
Depends on what you are trying to achieve. Definitely filter floss to trap particulates. Could run a bit of carbon to help clear the water/remove possible contaminants. GFO if you have a high phosphate problem. Chemi pure or chemi pure blue (I think the blue has gfo in it). I personally wouldn't run anything until you have a need for it. Just start with your live rock, filter floss and a skimmer if you use one. From there add chemical filtration if you need to based on water tests. 1 Quote Link to comment
Clown79
Chemipure is carbon with an added media: blue has a purigen like media and elite has a gfo. So using carbon and phosguard plus chemipure could easily strip a tank. In my tanks I only use 1 tbsp of carbon and filter floss. Floss changed 2 times a week and car on every 2 weeks. 1 Quote Link to comment
