Hello fellow reefers, i have just set up a new tank and i plan to grow lots of macro algae in the tank, but as my country is on lockdown due to the virus, i cant get any fish at the moment but i can order macro algae, would it grow in a new fishless system, if i need some sort of aquarium plant fertiliser would i be able to use a freshwater plant fertiliser? I hope this makes sence.

I would continue to feed the tank to keep the bacteria alive. The macros might out-compete them for ammonia/nitrite. You can also dose nitrate and phosphate manually. I fertilize with ChaetoGro for my green macros and some kind of iron for my reds.
