It's a shame zoa spiders are so destructive. They're kinda neat. I wonder if they have any relatives that eat macros instead?

Honestly, I have no clue. I know my Saron shrimp used to eat chaeto when he got the munchies. 🤷‍♀️

No, I mean like something that's a zoa spider, except for macroalgae. Sea spiders (not actually spiders) are pretty cool little animals, and they'd make neat pets if they could be fed seaweed. Google says there are something over 1300 species of them, so I'd wager there's a few species that could be kept as pets relatively easily, but I doubt we'll find out which ones any time soon. I don't really think commercial collectors go out with magnifying glasses to hunt dime-sized spider-creatures on the off chance that some of them can be fed algae.

New GSP frag was wide open today, but had this messy, *tangled look about it which I really liked - basically it looked like a bunch of wild weeds:

This is one of the two zoa frags I purchased yesterday. This frag actually came from a rock covered in zoas, which was pulled out of a decom. DT in the store. So it had a nice mix of zoas on it, including to metallic green palys which hasn't quite opened up in my tank yet. The other smaller zoas are actually a mix of red, brown and beige colors:

This is the second frag I bought - I know it's hard to tell, but these zoas are actually bright purplish-blue, with a dark reddish-brown skirt. Very beautiful in person:

It basically looks like this: (pic taken from net)

Very pretty. 🙂

Sunflower has 3 new polyps now - the oldest 'baby' polyp already looks like a full grown one, just at mini-size:

My rainbow brain coral takes up a *lot of space when it expands. Time to feed it a chunk of shrimp - will do so tomorrow: 😊

Green galaxea is finally regrowing. Color has almost returned back to normal, which is fairly quick:

The acans regrowing is so far the best - I think they can even multiply enough to cover that whole tiny rock they're on, in due time:

Some of the zoas on my multi-mix frag are still being stubborn and refuse to open. I'm not sure why...? 🤔 :

I lost my red digi nub (missing). ☹

I think it detached when I moved things around in the tank, and was accidently knocked off. It *might still be alive in the shadows under Coralline Ledge, but it belongs to Benny now. ☹

Will definitely try to find another small digi frag in the future. I kinda liked mine.

Finally added 1.5kg of sand and did a full WC today:

Re-adding everything to the tank took me slightly over an hour - simply because I had many loose frags all over the place. The good news is I found my red digi nub and it was still alive! 🤗

Managed to reglue it back on Coralline Ledge. I also found my green nepthea, but it is quite shriveled. ☹

These two guys were the last to go back in though:

I like it. I wish my Duncan would have a baby.

That second polyp has been there forever. Slowest growth imaginable in any coral piece I've ever kept in this hobby. 🙄

Glad you like it though. I too, think it looks nice with some sand in it. 🙂

Plus, now I have the added options of doing a small sand dweller (like a Hi-Fin goby/Candycane Pistol shrimp pair) if I cannot acquire a YCG or GCG.

Quick question - speaking of sand dwellers, will other gobies like a Randall's or Wheeler's be too big for this little reef? I love the brightness of a Wheeler's. It was my third option, should I fail to get a hold of a YCG/GCG or Hi-Fin. 🤔

I would stick to the smallest goby you can find, mostly for bioload. Any of the 3" or less ones would, I think, be alright in terms of space? They don't move much, I think a lot of their enrichment comes from watching things around them.

Oh, absolutely a candycane shrimp. All the other pistols you can easily get are ones that definitely need much more space, and they'd cause a huge mess in such a small tank anyway.

I agree with tired a small goby is best. If you go with a goby and shrimp. Try to find a candy cane shrimp they stay the smallest.

Two updates today. 🤗

Update #1:

The RM 10 frag I got from my LFS opened up fully today and I got a chance to finally see my metallic green paly! 🤗

This blasto head finally regrew in full. Expecting more blastos from this frag in the future:

The blue zoa frag insists on having brown skirts. Hoping it'd color up into something else:

The John Deere leptastrea has finally regained its original vivid coloring - and the green skirts are more pronounced now:

What happened to the Favia above? Coral Warfare?

There are no favias above - are you referring to the pink one with yellow dots? That's a cyphastrea which was dying in my 60G. Pulled it out, and now it's slowly regrowing in the pico. 👍
