Snow_Phoenix
Update #2: Topview FTS taken today: Light output at 75% + clip-on yellow lens filter used to take all these pics. 😊👍 The blasto colony on the far right still hasn't regrown properly, and my softies & two leptastreas are mad and don't have full PE in this pic (probably due to the Prazi dosing), but everything else is on point. Already tossed Furan 2 in my online shopping cart to help with the zoa pox problem - red PE zoas aren't fully extended/open in this pic due to the pox, but I'll try to save them. 👍 Add-On: I believe I've posted this in the plant thread, but these are the camera settings which I use when taking pics: My phone is auto-adjusted this way. Theoretically, I can adjust/tinker with the advanced settings further (especially in Pro mode), but I don't do this for my FTSes (or reef pics, in general). Just throwing this out there for anyone who's curious over how I snap pics for all my tanks. 👍 1 2 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Dropping in with this quick pic of Midnight here: 😊 Both Nox and Midnight made it through the first 24 hours in the tank without incident. I think they're feeding off the live pods in the system - right now, my focus will be to ensure the water condition in the tank is good, the parameters are stable, and then slowly introduce them to various vitamin-enriched prepared food. Hoping to wean them onto pellets in a month or so as well. 😊👍 3 Quote Link to comment
debbeach13
I have not used it but I believe furan 2 was the go to treatment for zoa pox. Now I am going to get out a magnifying glass and check my new zoa's. 2 Quote Link to comment

Hopefully it won't take too long to be posted. 1 Quote Link to comment
debbeach13
Yup Mine have it also. I just watched a video and the treatment seems easy enough. It mentioned some of the things people think cause them. One was temperature change. I did temp assimilate when purchased so who knows. So glad they are in a QT tank. I guess we can compare treatment. Hope we are both successful! I wonder if my Florida Ric is at risk? 1 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Ordered & paid already. Now, we wait. 👍 Quote Link to comment

Tbh, I'm not sure if *temp. was the issue in my tank. The zoas were doing perfectly fine - then one day: bam! White patches on the Red PEs. I thought with some Vit. C drops and WCs, it'd go away on its own, and for a while, it appeared to be working, but it returned in full force and now one of the green zoa frags on the sandbed has it as well. It's not too severe yet - I think the earlier you treat the coral, the better the chances of survival and recovery. Quote Link to comment
debbeach13
I am going to call the store where I bought them and see if they have furan in stock. If not I will place an amazon order. I did have one other frag of zoa's in the QT tank. I put it in there a couple days ago on a different rock I do not see any pox on it so I am going to put it in the pico. There are no zoas in the pico right now. 1 Quote Link to comment

Just keep an eye out for any white blotches/spots on the polyps - or especially around the stems, when the corals are closed up. I'm not sure if I'm going to isolate mine - because I have a *lot of zoas, so I was thinking of dipping all of them one by one before re-adding them to the DT. I'm treating them as if the whole bunch is infected, even though most of them seem perfectly healthy. Figured I'd rather be safe than sorry. 😕 Quote Link to comment
debbeach13
yeah I can see the spots on the stems of the new frags. I will also treat the other zoas that I put in the pico but couldn't see any right now. I have had that frag plug for a long time. I put it on a rock and wait for the zoas to spread of the plug then move it to a different rock or spot. Amazon will not have furan in stock until July 9th. so I really hope the store has some. Fins crossed. 1 Quote Link to comment

I'm up for learning anything new, and mainly saving the infected corals. 👍 Quote Link to comment

Snow_Phoenix
Update #1: My montihat is getting greener by the day, and I'm very happy with its progress. 😊 : It also has full PE now, which is awesome. My meteor shower cyphastrea is still darkening. Even today, some bits of it are bluish, although the overall base color is gray (?). It's very strange: 🤔 A lineup of shrooms along the left corner of the tank: The teal discosoma has darkened a bit and has reddish areas - waiting for it to color back up again. Next update otw! 🤗 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Update #2: New baby blastos are slowly regrowing around the older skeleton of the old blasto colony: My long-polyped toadstool appears to have become lighter. I'm not sure if adding Prazi in the water has something to do with this - because I could have sworn it had more color on it yesterday: I know it's really difficult to tell, but my Malayan rainbow acans now have 4 colors on it - orange, green, blue & white. I have another frag of this exact same type of acan in my 60G atm, and it's red in that tank (lost all other additional colors) : Took a few close ups of the zoas - still battling the pox, but until the furan 2 arrives, nothing much can be done: Last update incoming! 😄 1 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Update #3: Critters. Harvey had a busy day ferreting some sinking pellets between the corals today: 😅 Both my BCGs are okay, but quite elusive. Honestly, there are times when they right up front in the tank and I miss them, because they camoflage very well between the corals. Nox is the shy one of the pair, and usually hides when he sees me coming. Midnight is a *bit bolder, and he always stares at me suspiciously: 😅 Also, I have no idea what these two goofs were doing - but if I see eggs on the glass later, well... : 2 1 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
The acans are developing purplish stripes around the green. The color still hasn't settled yet, but I think it'll look pretty neat in a month or two: Also, I finally found Nox. Guess where he is? : Perhaps getting a black fish with a tank that has a black background wasn't exactly a great idea. 😅 Some of the corals are still mad because of the Prazi in the water - especially these 3 : red fungia, john deere leptastrea & orange leptastrea. All others are still okay and open, despite zoa pox. One of my zoa frags is not very happy though - so I'll give it an iodine dip to see if that helps somewhat. 👍 3 Quote Link to comment
debbeach13
I wonder of black fish in a tank with a black back feel more secure. 3 Quote Link to comment

Snow_Phoenix
This might sound extremely embarrassing, but I re-measured the dimensions of the pico *just now. It's actually 11.5" x 6.5" x 8" = 2.59G (I'll just round it up to ~2.6G). I've corrected it in the title of the thread and the opening post - sorry about this. Right now, I'm not even sure why/how I came up with the 2.9G volume earlier. Eek. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Adjusted the signature as well to the correct amount. (Honestly tho - how does someone even come up with 2.9G initially? Did I flip the number 6 upside down or something when I calculated the volume last year or something? Eh. 🤷♀️ ) 1 Quote Link to comment

debbeach13
When are you expecting the furan 2 to arrive? If possible can you take a before treatment picture? I did pick up some furan 2 Sunday at the local store and today will be the 3rd day of treatment. The good news is the treatment has not had any bad effects on the zoa's. They are still opening and look fine. The other news is I can still see spots. The spots seem to be limited to the stems. I can not seem to get any good pictures with my crappy phone camera.
