Snow_Phoenix
My mini acans fell over last night. Found it upside down in the zoa garden this morning: 😕 It doesn't look too badly damaged, but the polyps are retracted. Will give it a quick iodine dip before re-gluing it back on Coralline Ledge. Piccolo still hasn't molted yet, but is filter feeding as usual: I don't have an iodine test kit, but I *think my levels are okay because my Saron has molted several times without any issue, and my weekly WCs should be enough to replenish any trace elements in the water. I'm just hoping her legs will regrow properly in time. She was missing two of them when I bought her, and it can take several molts before they regrow fully. 🤔 2 Quote Link to comment

Snow_Phoenix
It's getting brighter as the days move on - quite pleased with this leptastrea's progress and the way it bounced back: 🤗 Rainbow brain was large & puffy today evening: And I've been observing the antics of these two closely: 😊 3 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Piccolo was quite anxious over Harvey's approach: I scattered some pellets earlier and the flow carried all of them towards Piccolo's corner. Harvey was very hungry, but cautious: And eventually the two sort of skirted around each other without infringing on the other's territory: Their interaction was definitely quite interesting. 🤔 2 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
How my pico set up actually looks like - no filter lens. Tank shot just the way it is: 🥰 5 Quote Link to comment
Tired
Aw, look at 'em! I love watching different bug-type creatures try to figure each other out. My porcelain crab has been having to deal with a micro decorator crab. The porcelain waves its claws around when approached, but the decorator, unfortunately for the efficacy of that, has been trained (by me) to think that something waving over its head means there might be food. So it just reaches up and pokes at the porcelain's claws to see if there's anything edible, and neither of them really knows what to do with that. 2 1 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Dis is mine: 😊 Acans - nope, still haven't reglued the rainbow acan back on Coralline Ledge, but will do shortly: Favites are growing, but very slowly: 🤷♀️ Bullseye rhodactis still hasn't opened up fully: Bristly: 😊 4 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Yep, Piccolo is definitely a female: 😅 Of all the places to have a nap in: 🙄 3 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Metallic GSP finding ways to crawl all over the place as it spreads out: 😅 Bad pic - but here's a quick shot of my tricolor blasto: It's actually very vivid in RL, and is yellow, green & red. 😊 Mini red devil shroom is slowly getting larger - the shroom next to it is actually a leopard discosoma: Piccolo was on the Zoa Tower for a change today: She was initially crouched on my turban snail, but dropped down to the rocks when I flipped the lights on to clean the algae film on the surface of the water. 3 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Red pavona has grown even more over the last few days: 😊 Green leptastrea is also growing, but at a slower rate: I'm not exactly sure what sort of coral this is, but I presume it's some sort of leptastrea: When I first spotted it at my LFS, it was pink with yellow eyespots under their LEDs. But when I put in my tank, it turned out to be pink with green eyespots, and is rather vivid color-wise. I tried googling about it online - both in the cyphastrea & leptastrea categories, but came up with nothing. 😕 If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Growth rate is a bit slow, and so far it hasn't stung any corals nearby. 🤔 Also caught these three hanging out together at the back of the tank: Kinda cool to see them all in one shot. 😊 3 Quote Link to comment
A.m.P
My bet would be on some kind of cyphastrea, but the odd patterns on the base kind of throw me off. Quote Link to comment

Yeah. It just doesn't seem to *fit in either category. It's pretty enough - just wished it grew quicker. 😅 1 Quote Link to comment

Snow_Phoenix
Quick update: the surface algae bloom is still continuing. I mopped up as much of it as I could using several paper towels. It's a bit of a nuisance, but I figured it will dissipate on its own (eventually). 🤷♀️ Corals & inverts are all okay, but the glass is filthy and covered in film algae + pods. I'll be doing a full dual-WC tomorrow morning, and some basic maintenance. 👍 2 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Woke up this morning to this - uh oh! 😕 : Even the tricolor blasto fell off the rock - will need to reglue this one later: My sunflower zoas have a new tiny polyp growing out: 😊 And the cyphastrea actually has full PE: 😮 3 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
I just finished WCing my tank. Made a big mistake during the WC - I underestimated the suction pressure of my gravel vac. pump and accidently sucked up my rainbow brain coral. Then I released the pump too quickly because I panicked, and ripped the coral completely on one side. 😱 I immediately stopped the WC and dipped the coral in a separate bucket with concentrated iodine + Vit. C. The coral was sliming a bit after I re-introduced it into the tank (I quickly completed the WC), and I used a baster to suck up as much of the slime as I could. 😔 The ripped area is now very pinched, but the rest of the coral appears tentatively okay. I will be giving it daily iodine dips until it (hopefully) gets better. I'm mostly worried BJD will set in. I have other LPS in the tank, and since the tank's overall volume is super small, the corals are in close proximity with one another. I'll definitely keep a close eye on the tank. And perform as many WCs as needed. I really should have slowed down while cleaning the tank. I was tired & rushed through it, and it could cost me a coral (and probably more). 😭 3 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Well, the brain is still badly pinched: And there is a smaller tear at the side: It isn't sliming though, so I think it will need a few weeks or months to recover fully: 😔 Good news is I spotted Prowler, and he appears to be fine, if not cryptic: Since the brain is injured, Piccolo has temporarily moved into the GSP: Some of the corals are still moody after the WC, but that is not unusual. I re-glued the tricolor blasto frag back to Coralline Ledge though. 👍 My LFS also has Independence Day sales over the next few days, so I'll pop in to see if there are any super small zoa frags on discount. Still keeping my eyes peeled for a mini gorg though! 3 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Tank is still waking up but the metallic green palys are already fully open: The rainbow brain coral still looks very pinched, but at least it looks slightly better today than yesterday. 🤔 The montihat expressed full PE, which was nice to see: 🤗 Shrooms are looking okay, although the leopard discosoma is still very small and needs to develop further colors: 🤔 This black sponge was originally a hitchiker. It's now slowly growing at the base of Zoa Tower: 😊 5 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Spotted Prowler: And Harvey: I forgot to mention - my AOG zoas have not been doing well for the past two days. I thought a WC would correct whatever issue the coral is experiencing, but it looks like it didn't. Most of the polyps remain shrunken and small. I'm mostly worried they'll melt away. 😕 I'll try to see if I can frag off one or two polyps at the edges and stick to another place in the tank. Otherwise, I was thinking of giving the frag an iodine dip. Hopefully it'll make a comeback. Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Rainbow brain coral is recovering quickly - one area is still badly pinched, but the other areas of the coral seem unaffected: I'm facing trouble with other coral pieces, however. My green favites was actually trapped under the Zoa Tower when I WCed the tank recently, and I only noticed it today. Thankfully, the frag doesn't seem too injured, but the flesh appears a bit retracted. To top it off, a small part of my mini rainbow acans melted overnight and was sliming pretty badly because my cyphastrea stung it. 😞 I was quite worried that the coral will develop BJD, so I removed it, cleaned the slime (R.I.P. One Tiny Acan Head), and dipped it in concentrated iodine. I also fragged the very tip of my pink AOG zoas (the polyp had actually fused to my Tubbs Blue frag, but one clean cut separated it) and dipped it. It honestly doesn't look good - no spots from what I can see, so it doesn't appear to be Zoa Pox: Definitely confused as to what exactly I'm dealing with here. The only thing I can do is dip it and observe it. Zoas sometimes melt away for no apparent reason, but I'm hoping this won't be the case. I'm rather fond of my mini zoa garden on the sandbed, and would like to keep it intact. Also spotted tiny strands of GHA growing on the glass - urgh! Quite a challenging day for the Pico. I have a sense things might get nastier - just hoping I won't lose any coral pieces because I love them all, and it'll be a pain to re-collect anything. I also discovered this semi-transparent tube-like tunnel creeping up one corner of the LR: I'm not sure what exactly built it, but I'm guessing it *might be a worm of some sort. 🤔 1 Quote Link to comment
A.m.P
Maybe not enough flow over the zoa's? Quote Link to comment

For some reason, the site kept crashing on my end and I didn't receive any notifications of recent comments on any of my threads. 😕 I think my current HOB isn't working at maximum efficiency. I have a newer, spare unit downstairs - will swap them and see if it makes any difference, flow-wise. 🤔 3 Quote Link to comment
Tired
The tube is probably either a sponge, or a tube made by a worm. May be worth sneaking up at night to see if you can spot a worm. Probably nothing concerning. 4 Quote Link to comment
