Is this a limpet?

That looks more like the top of an oyster. Likely what you're seeing as a snail is the mantle of the oyster when it opens to feed. Harmless filter-feeder, though it's possible it'll eventually get too large and impede the snail, depending on species.

 

Limpets are roughly shaped like a very wide, flat cone, and crawl around on the rock.

Slipper limpet maybe? .......hard to tell exactly from that pic.

Are you talking about that purple dot in the center?

 

Other that purple it doesn't seem to have any form that discernible in the photo.  Can you take a pic at lower angle?
