Tired
I have a trimma goby, probably T. caesiura. I've had him for about two months, and thanks to my amphipod population, I haven't had to feed him once. However, the pods are bothering my RFAs. I'd like to try to have fewer amphipods, but I'd like to be able to feed the whole tank (including the goby) every few days, and have him able to eat pods in the meantime, so he stays well-fed even if I forget a day. If I thin out the amphipods somehow, then up the macroalgae to grow in copepods, will he eat those instead? I occasionally see him dart at what doesn't look like anything in particular to me, but I can't tell if he's eating copepods when he does that, or if he's just trying to get a closer look at something. I love this little guy. Such a good pico fish- he doesn't move much, meaning he doesn't mind the lack of space, and his metabolism and bioload should be nice and low. And it doesn't get more reef-safe than this! The worst he'll do is sit on and minorly annoy some zoa polyps. Isn't even big enough to annoy the whole frag. I promise he does actually have fins, they're just nigh-on invisible from more than a few inches away. He's got a big mouth for his size. His name's Task Force, because I got him to thin out my amphipods. I was eyeing a nice green clown goby, but when I asked them to test-feed him, he wouldn't eat. This guy did, though. Ate a mysis the size of his head, and thoroughly convinced me of his effectiveness as a pod-eater. He's on any amphipods that come anywhere near him, and I suspect he's catching a lot of them back behind the rockwork, where he hides when something scares him. 1 Quote Link to comment
