Gourami Swami
Hello Nano Reef I set this tank up a couple of months back after a move to a new apartment. The tank has been running without a problem since then- I had a 14g reef in my old place which donated a lot of rock and coral for this tank, plus I added some new things. Have about 30lbs of live rock total, and am using a mix of fiji pink and Bimini pink caribsea livesand. Here's the equipment list: Tank- Seapora 40 Rimless Crystal Aquarium Stand- Seapora black/stainless stand (with LED lighting installed inside) Filtration- Fiji Cube 40gallon AIO Insert (floss, bio-balls, chemi-pure blue) Light- Relassy LED Pump- Lifegard Quiet One Heater- Hygger titanium electric heater 100w (undersized to prevent overheating, room stays warm) ATO- Tunze Osmolator 3155 (3.5g topfin aquarium as reservoir) Powerhead- Jebao w/controller Power- Geeni wifi powerstrip (app controlled power w/ timers) Livestock: Lots of coral of all types Fijian Mimic Filefish Misbar Clownfish Orchid Dottyback Scarlet skunk cleaner shrimp Some various crabs and snails, etc. I have lots of plans for this tank, but they may have to wait a little bit because cash is tight right now. Skimmer and acrylic lid are the next items on my list, before replacing some of the equipment with higher quality parts. Also have some more livestock ideas. All in good time. -GS 4 1 Quote Link to comment
mitten_reef
Very intrigue by the tank/AIO combo. 1 Quote Link to comment
Gourami Swami
Thanks, I'm happy with the combo, tank is nice and seems well built with thick glass. AIO has very spacious compartments. I needed to add some 1" rubber legs to the bottom of the AIO to get it to sit at the right height in the taller tank. But once I added those it is a good fit. 2 Quote Link to comment
Gourami Swami
Update- had a lot of spare time due to the coronavirus pandemic, decided to DIY an acrylic lid to stop fish from jumping out. Pretty simple design, It's a single sheet of acrylic with two cut-outs for the back (will have skimmer ATO etc going in) and one in the middle for feeding and gas exchange. I was considering bracing it with scrap acrylic to stop it from bowing (I've had a similar lid in the past, I except it to0 bow a bit), but thought I would hold out and see if it needs it. I was also thinking a strip of glass as bracing might be better because it's more rigid. Anybody use glass to brace acrylic before? 3 Quote Link to comment
Gourami Swami
Quick photo update. Reef has gone through some rougher patches. I was fighting dinos, I seem to have mostly won the battle, but the parameter swings involved with "dirtying up" the tank caused a few coral deaths. Now I am moving towards a soft coral-only reef. Still have some LPS but may sell them soon or trade for more mushroom/leather corals. 2 Quote Link to comment
