505nano
This is my 2nd saltwater tank. I have a quick question regarding cycling. I filled the tank Feb 22nd. Dosed around 3-4ppm ammonia.. I also added half a bottle of fluvo beneficial bacteria.. which I know was way more then required.. ha a couple days later, I tested and saw my ammonia still around 4ppm. Added more bacteria, and tested throughout the week and it went down to about .25. my nitrites have been climbing and I feel are staying steady around .50 to 1. I dosed more ammonia because I was worried if the cycle stalling and again, ammonia dropped to .25 ish in 24 hrs.. but still waiting for these nitrites to drop before I add livestock. Do I need to keep adding ammonia to feed the bacteria till the nitrites drop? Or do I just wait and stop messing with it ? also I know Nitrates are high. I used to much bacteria ha I plan on a 90% water change when cycled TIA! Quote Link to comment
