squamptonbc
Amazing how fast this thing can spread in a month, my province in a month went from 8 to a little over 1,000. But the 1,000 is total cases, active cases is lower as close to 1/2 the total cases have recovered. The provincial government ruled out any chance of restrictions being lifted in April, and sounds like earliest they expect is possibly June, and they would monitor through summer and fall to see if there is a 2nd wave, this is of course based on the theory the current restrictions work and things return to semi-normal by June, but sounds like for my area June at the earliest. 1 Quote Link to comment

That's good news for your province!! We're not so lucky. We have over 4000 cases, half of them in my City. What screwed us over was the spring break (people either had the last week of february or 1st week of march). Because things were ok then lots of people traveled, caught it, didn't show signs and spread it here. Quarantine and everything else started on the 14th. Prime minister says things are ok but they're not.. 2 1 Quote Link to comment

Oh, nice... as I’m sitting here writing this I see my nassarius snail is still alive! Hadn’t seen it for a few days... really been limiting food in this tank to reduce the need for water changes and thought I may have starved it. I just went to snap a pic to post here of the snail and the pink in the sand, and look what my little photobombing fish did, they swam right over to get in the picture. I should get back to taking more pics of my tanks, it really does lift my spirits. Those are cute!!!! Totally missed all the pics here!! Nice tanks! I decided to set up my 10g for freshwater pea dwarf puffer. I just need a new filter (I'll order an aquaclear), soil, some low light plants, some nice fake plants and the fish at some point. Cool tank, easy maintenance and not too expensive 3 1 Quote Link to comment

Our numbers keep climbing and younger ppl are dying. Ontario has the slowest testing of the whole country. BC is the only province that set up rent relief program. Ppl are waiting over 2 weeks for results here. Some are hospitalized and dead before they find out. That means anyone in contact with anyone waiting for results could be spreading it to co workers, grocery stores, pharmacies...because there is no enforcement of those ppl going into isolation. Hell, no ones enforcing employers actually do what they are supposed to do. Things are not ok here. It's all smokin mirrors to try to keep people at ease and save businesses. They are contradictory at best. Stay home if you have underlying health issues or over 70- oh wait there's no financial aid for those ppl nor job protection under any law for these reasons. Good luck getting in touch with anyone- the friggin number is no longer in service. A Canadian Service number disconnected! 3 2 Quote Link to comment

Lack of testing( I know it's because of ltd. tests but it would be better to test more. long result waiting times, Forget recommendations- it's time for being powerful not asking but enforcing because there are still ppl going out to stores multiple times a week, going out, getting together. 1 Quote Link to comment

It's killing many elders and their family can't say goodbye. It's heartbreaking!! I'm used to seeing death, but this...it's so wrong and they're asking us to do a miracle!! They're testing more in Qc than in ontario, but we see outbreaks everywhere. They FINALLY got the frigging government to send pregnant healthworkers either home or somewhere safe. Same goes for those in contact with the public (like grocery stores, pharmacies, etc). I'm hoping I'll get to stay home!! 2 1 Quote Link to comment
This guy is extra salty
I'm a little tired of the doom and gloom. how about a little positive? We will all get through this pandemic, everyone needs to do their part. whether its you having to stay home, or out on the frontlines trying to get this thing under control. I want to thank everyone for doing their own part, stay safe. this is what I'm contributing to the cause You know it’s serious when a hospital uses their own ambulances as delivery trucks All production had shifted gears to making PPE for “essential workers” we are all weak individually, but we’re strong together. 7 1 Quote Link to comment

I think you may mean my little fishies... they’re neon gobies... I got them as a mated pair from KP Aquatics... they are super cute and it definitely cheers me up to watch them while I’m working since they’re in my home office ☺️ 3 Quote Link to comment
Tamberav
Was on our official covid floor today...the PPE is killing my ears and face. If anyone has a 3D printer...nurses would love to have something to go behind their neck or above their bun to hold the mask straps. I would love a some to distribute! Here is the design: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dezeen.com/2020/03/29/creality-3d-printed-buckle-face-mask-coronavirus/amp/ This was outside as I was leaving 🙂 8 Quote Link to comment
Lypto
I've got an insanely fast delta printer and maybe 1/4 a kg of filament. It's super broken but I'll see what I can do! 3 1 Quote Link to comment

A nurse brought in about 5 of 3D bands and they seemed comfortable. You can wear it up high above a bun on your hair instead of behind the neck too for the girls. 4 Quote Link to comment

StevieT
I hope we can keep proving these good updates form the online sales sector of this hobby. Sales are insane right now you guys are turning to online vendors more than ever. Amazon is constantly changing their algorithms to push buy boxes on the merchants instead of inventory they ship. The first week of March we shipped 165 orders out of our warehouse. This week without counting Friday night and Saturday we have already shipped 446 orders. I'm good but flipping a switch like that was like WTF GFY. I had to upgrade shipping software and stay up until 2am every night reworking efficiencies so we still ship same business day. This coming Monday is going to be insane. People turn to hobbies in times like this. We saw it in 2008 when inTank was started in the beginning of the great recession. Let's all work to make this short lived and get back to the booming economy we all created. Thank you for keeping this hobby alive during this crazy time of our lives and human history. Steve | inTank That is certainly encouraging. Hopefully my usual stores will survive until better times return, the hobby is way smaller in Canada, but this has given some the push they needed to finally go online and sell, which hopefully will help them. I just hope there is enough people still working and able to buy aquarium stuff from my local stores so they stay in business. My area is hard hit as this is the start of our tourist and cruise ship season, and well there isn't one this year, it's too late to salvage that, so its gonna be rough since so many jobs are connected to tourism and service industry, and now poof so many gone, the airport alone has seen some 13,000 people lose their jobs, and it wont return quickly, aviation is always last to recover, I probably should have chosen a more stable industry to be in...ha ha. Think I would have learned this, but then this is the first time since 9/11 I was laid off, so it was a good run. Sorry for the babble, I am just really really bored.... 1 Quote Link to comment

This proves how connected we ALL are. As an elected official I am trying to put some reality on our local government - I am only one but a global depression is much worse so we must walk a fine line here. We ship to Canada all day every day - our proximity may be a factor. Apparently the exchange rate sucks right now - but overall it may not be as small as you think op der. Quote Link to comment
Tamberav
If there are fish or wild caught inverts you are looking to buy, now may be the time. Two vendors (that I know of) have basically shut down shipping because they can not reliably get the fish in anymore. Reefs4less post: From BaybridgeAquarium: 2 1 Quote Link to comment
