I forgot to mention the crab molted last night. I tossed the molt and forgot to take a picture but it did happen! Also moved the Duncan again to place the little cup in the low flow area. This week end I broad cast fed reef roids and frozen brine shrimp plus spot fed some of the shrimp to the RFA. There was noticeable response from the toadstool and RFA last night. There was also a noticeable increase in the tiny clear flat worms. I am considering shopping for a fish this week. Going to call a couple LFS to ask if they have any gobies.

At first the sharknose was out and about perching here and there perching every where. While the YWG was hiding behind the main rock until it discovered the hidey holes in the front under the rock with a tunnel that goes under. Lucky for me both opening are in the front of the tank. The shark nose later hide and I haven't seen it since not even when I put some frozen brine shrimp in the tank. The watchman is every where and likes to lay in the little bowl where the tiny zoa polyps are. I think I will name the YWG young William.

Awesome!  My shark nose was such a personable little guy.  I'm sure yours will come out and be the same over time.  Very excited for your new additions!

He is so tiny and so cute. Not actually worried yet. I just want a little peek of him then he can go hide again. I was told both the fish had been at the store awhile and eating well. They both looked healthy. You know you wait to get the fish so you want to see them.

Yup still bored so I added to my first post. Tracking what I spent so far and livestock from  my 20l. It is probably a good thing I haven’t been to any of my favorite local stores for coral. Which is why I still what I consider a budget tank.

In other news. The Duncan was moved yesterday to the 20l probably wishful thinking but I think it is open a little more. The cleaner shrimp molted, the rock with the orange/green centered polyps that I like to call sunburst which was in the pico that I fragged and moved to the 20 along with the single polyp I stared for my sons pico also look good.

Couldn't help myself pulled the filter rack and heater so I could use a flashlight. No sharknose in the back chambers. Still not even 48 hours in the tank so he should be fine.

Corals look great, especially love the cloves and mushrooms. 😍 I hope your fish is okay... hopefully just hiding out, adjusting to the new digs.

Definitely worried now have not seen shark nose and it is day 3. I have feed every night since putting the fish in and no sign of him. Young William is doing great and a few minutes ago I think he told me to bugger off. Came up to the glass and flaring at me.

I hope you find the shark nose.

Mine liked to perch upside down under things - in places I’d never expect to look. Hope yours is doing the same thing.

Just before lights out last night. It is only two months since this tank was filled up but so far I am not seeing any ill effects of using tap water with prime. So for now I will continue to use this. EDIT to be clear - I am in no way suggesting anyone start using tap water especially any one new to the hobby. Two months is nothing in the life of a reef tank. I want to go the whole year and see what happens. More or less saying so far so good.

More people use tap than will admit it. I am still doing untreated tap water top offs in my 12 gallon for about a year now I think.

I thought you were one and yes a few others have admitted it but not many. Some say once in awhile. If they don’t have any RO/DI on hand.

Do you use city water or well water?  Our house down there has a well and I’m curious to test it ‘cause I want free tank water! 😄

That rock came from my 20L. Which was rebooted after a 9 day visit to hospital 4 years ago. So no cycle in the pico.

I re started the Spec 3 with dry rock and City tap water so should be interesting to see what differences that brings, especially with cycle involved

I started SW when I lived in Chelmsford MA had a 55G tank using tap with start right. Moved to Salisbury MA smaller home and new 29G tank and continued with tap and start right there also. Until I had a hair algae out break and took the suggestion to try RO/Di from Wal-Mart (no longer available). But thinking back shortly after changing my water source I changed my lights from CF to Metal Halide. So who knows maybe the water help or maybe it was the lights. When I moved to Florida I lived with my son and got a new tank 40B with new T-5 lighting but continued with Bottled water. Then I moved again to my current location and changed to a 20L first with T-5 (still have in the garage but tank ran hot!) now a nano box duo old style no blue tooth and use DI bottled. With so many different tanks and lights over the years I thought it would be interesting and frugal to give tap another try on the pico.
