Lysh87
Hi everyone! I’m hoping someone can help me as I am very new to reefing! I have an adorable domino but he seems to be changing colour! He is very small and he was all black a week ago when I got him. Now his head is changing brownish/silverish more and more each day. Is he ok?? He is swimming and eating normal. Quote Link to comment
Ivy Mills
Hi! Your domino damsel is perfectly fine. Most damsel fish change their patterns as they mature. Your damsel is doing just that. They will end up looking something like this: Quote Link to comment
Lysh87
Oh thank you so much!!! I really appreciate your reply 🙂 I do know they are basically the worst fish to have and no one seems to like them because they are so aggressive but I just love him/her! So much fun to watch and such personality. 1 Quote Link to comment
mcarroll
They do that when they get big though...not when they are still tiny. To me that looks a little like damage from HLLE (head and lateral line errosion)....but a closeup wold let us see a lot better. Never heard of this happening on damselfish....but then not many folks like to keep damselfish so the experience pool is thinner. BTW I have a Black Damselfish....beautiful white coloration with bright blue fins now.....he'll be 100% pitch-black when he grows up. He was a rescue. (He's been a great tankmate for my Yellow Tang.) mcarroll
Mine is 3-4" long and FAT.....still no real sign of color change, although body color is a little more dull than it used to be. 1 Quote Link to comment
