Gravity Posted February 24, 2020 Author Share Posted February 24, 2020 Just saw the competition post Saturday. I would have wanted to build a DIY tank but for time-sake decided to buy one. So naturally on Sunday I visited 4 aquarium shops to find a tank. Unfortunately, I did not find what I was looking for and ended up ordering a tank online, keeping my fingers crossed 🤞 it will be here in time. They are the 7 gal peninsula and 4 gal cube. Will probably keep both. Assuming both arrive without delays or damage I’m not sure which one to choose. More water is usually a little more stable plus I like long scapes. More room to separate the corals that are aggressive. Good luck with which ever one you decide to go with. 2 Quote Link to comment

Yeah, that is why I originally wanted the 7 gallon. However, I am currently leaning towards a sexy shrimp tank which doesn’t need to be that big. HIPARGERO Aqua Knight 30w LED - thought about doing a DIY led but the price on this was just too hard to pass up. Cobalt Neotherm 25w Heater - not the cheapest heater but the temperature consistency and reliability is worth the extra cost. That was the hope but I really want to compare them. The 4.14 gal tank arrived today but the 7.4 gal is now pushed back to Saturday delivery. I’m anxious to get my 2.5g pico moves into the same 4.1g tank you’re considering. And, had I not already had that one in storage, I would now go with the 7g. Either way you go you’re going to need to upgrade the pump. I think it’s the same 87 gph pump with both tanks and It’s pretty weak and a little noisy (although mines not broken in yet and not nearly as bad as the IM pump that came with the 14 peninsula contest tank a few years back.) I’m working on a filter floss holder for it right now. You’ll want to ditch the sponges and consider that too. Following along for sure! 2 Quote Link to comment

I had heard that the pump wasn’t great but wanted to give it a try. I’m also considering a random flow generator for the return. I wasn’t planning on using the stock filtration long term.
