So couple changements, I modify the light to have a more "house" look, I took one fixture for a specific reasons, the depth.
You can't tell on the picture but their's a diffuser under the light. I did this in order to reduce the shimmer from the light since I can't control the shimmer via pump. It also help to reduce the disco effect that I saw in my video that bothers me a little bit. But those change will be more visible when I will have my new camera with slow motion.

I added a Blind Roller to remove any light leaking when I work on my computer on the right, was tired to have a little plastic paper hanging on the light with duct tape lol.

It took me a while to make those tiny change, I try my best to get a clean look, the power cable is painted like the wall and celling.

I shoot for 3 different videos, so now I have to edit everything and that will take time (1 for my nano reef series)

It's happenning!

Episode 14: Finally I started to add corals, I show some little tips here and there on how I handle the maintenance of my aquarium without loosing control of algae, hope it will help beginners.
I do my best to use naturals organism when I can, its much better, simpler and economical!

I'm very happy that everything seems to work has expected, I feared a lot to lose a little bit of the control since I show everything and this makes me... sweating salt/h2o out of my body 😛
Everytime I do something with this tank it make me really nervous because its completely public and i'm expose to potential backslash if something bad happen so i'm trying my best with this project, crossing fingers, knocking on the Ikea wood (not too much since it moves and splash water)

Episode 15

I love rock but, honestly, they are taking so long to grow so I decide to add more corals!
Gorgonian has such a huge visual reef impact and in nano reef even more!

I added a couple of different types of corals to see how they react and will see from there what I will need to be adjusted.

Initially, I just planned to put 1 gorgonian on the front but I love it so much that I decide to pick some of my other aquarium and use it in this aquarium.
I'm putting my energy on this project this month because I would like to see the corals start to look more established for the end of the competition #365daychallenge, I'm so late it's insane but I think I can manage to get something at the end, crossing fingers, so far so good!

I updated my post at the beginning with some picture from my videos to we can see the evolution each months

Evolution_1_July.thumb.jpg.2534c6df9f80589b14e56c639cd47ee8.jpg

Evolution_2_August.thumb.jpg.7fe48b268090bd7b72d6934c53080f73.jpg

Evolution_3_September.thumb.jpg.8f5651d474e7f1e870409dc5c679b6f4.jpg

Its part of the rules from the contest so I do my best to follow them.

To be completely honest, I find the photo of front of the aquarium each month to be a tiny bit annoying, simply because it added to the list of work I have to do for this aquarium but that its a personal problem with my YouTube thing, at the same time I completely understand why the rules is there and I most say I find this fun to see very quickly the evolution of the aquarium.

Turn out to be a concept I took for my videos, at the end of each video I show the front like this and I find it very cool to see something similar and you can track the evolution overtime.
Of course the "Front" is not the right angle for my tank since I built it to look good overtime from a three quarter view, I am very intrigue by the future of the evolution of the tank, so far so good, I'm glad I made initial correction at the beginning, it would have been harder to make modification at this point.

I still have a problem of film on top of the water time to time, but I will re-address that when I will finish the rush of corals for September and maybe October, I'm trying to put has much corals right now since I'm probably the latest competitor in this challenge, I have a lot of ground to cover with coral to look "good and mature". At the same time, I think it will take a year and a half to look like a real reef tank when the coral will grow.

I also updated the total of $ I put in this project, so far more than 3300$ Cdn...  ... so far... I think it will be around 4000 at the end, but yeah.. I had 2500$ in mind when I started this project ... you never know 😄

Have you notice reproduction behaviour?
Where are they hanging out in your tank?

I will add anemone flower and mushroom for them somewhere in october

Great addition. I have just 3 in my 5 gallon. They are very entertaining.

They are all over the tank. I have an RFA that they do love (it may not share those feelings) but the toadstool, GSP, Kenya Tree, and Mushrooms all get some attention. The only things they do not hang out on is my clove polyps and Florida Ricordia.

Interesting boycott with that mushroom 🙂
I don't planned to add Florida Ricordia, good to hear.

(But I've been really tempted 😛 )

Photo from this week, I know people prefer photos than videos so here you are 🙂
But video is better 😛

I also stop using photoshop but lightroom instead, better for watermark and export, take less time

I love your tank and you inspired me to start my own Nano aquarium. I am getting a Innovative marine 20 gallon peninsula aquarium from one of my local fish stores hear in Vancouver.  Keep up the good work!
