5G Home Reef

Hi all,

So after today fighting with the office tank and me generally feeling down, I have had a chat with the Mrs and we both agree that we miss having Hantu at home (she hasn't seen Puaka yet) and that a single tank would be best so we have started setting up the old 5G Cube.

Tank: 5 Gallon Cube

Light: Asta 20 LED

Heater: Mini Titanium 50w

Filter: Hydro Ripple HR450

Flow: Hydor Pico Evo Mag 250

IMG_20200224_205352.thumb.jpg.21ce2267dfc65e4293ca35a286462a2d.jpg

So first things first the Aquascape, I cannot take any credit was all the Mrs. She has done a great job with this.

IMG_20200224_191537.thumb.jpg.f3b9f30fee9b1b426e179d9809fdfcb7.jpgIMG_20200224_191544.thumb.jpg.471e3163ca25f7e5e17767ea9e29a381.jpg

I was busy hiding the heater in the HOB filter

IMG_20200224_195705.thumb.jpg.d7c0e5567bcf70dc59db5d14aace819f.jpg

And faffing around with mesh and lids

IMG_20200224_201022.thumb.jpg.e19c1afeb96dfd83348964b038fe84e7.jpg

So the plan is to get this wet tomorrow, move some rock and media over from the RSM. Probably keep back some water from tomorrow's change.

Stocking plans, macros and soft corals most likely. Keep it simple.

Sorry about your day.  Glad your lady had this started for you as it seemed just a matter of time.

Best wishes on what you go back to work to.  As if anyone needed more reasons to dread going to the office.

Found the tank stand, sponge brush and suitable white paint. So will white out the bottom tomorrow to give the impression of sand while being barebottom. Or so is the plan.

That's a true friend.  And it goes to show that we can plan for equipment failure or short term outages but its invaluable to have friends as other hobbyist that can either pop in to check on our tanks when we are on holiday or in this case, lend space in their tanks when needed.

Ha. I don't know why, but that word always makes me laugh. My youngest daughter moved to Australia a few years ago, and now "Faffing" is part of her regular lingo.

Tanks looking good. Wifey did a great job on the scape. Reminds me of ET

This is awesome! You need to let the Mrs. do all your scapes! 😂😂

I initially thought of the creature from the new Dark Crystal

Well we do still have a box of rocks for my future planned Home Reef upgrade. Was nice to work on the hobby together as well

That scape looks awesome. Now all you need to do is add a set of googly eye to complete the alien look.

And I'm really curious to see what a white bottom is going to look like

Thanks got a bit more that I want to do with the scape, I want to make a bridge that links the two front legs might angle the scape as well more towards the rear right hand corner

Leave the scape alone it looks great. I hope this is your lucky tank.

Thanks, me too. Want at least a years worth minimum. 100% Bunny Proofed the cables last night too

Christ, it's like being at home! Leave that alone, don't touch that, does that live there? I don't think so!

I have a couple of small cycled branch rocks that I want to use to kickstart the cycle
