Craig.
Sad news at the floating reef - nearly a month ago Lil Daddy developed white spot, so both he and Big Mumma were placed in quarantine to undergo tank transfer method. At the end of the two weeks both fish seemed healthy and we released them back into the reef. A week after, the white spot returned on Lil Daddy - today they are both back in quarantine for a second time. The display tank with remain fallow for 12 weeks to ensure the white spot is truly eradicated. The future of our clownfish is uncertain as we have nowhere to home them for the fallow period - Sadly, we may have to rehome them 😟 There is more bad news - a bacterial infection took hold in the Reefer 350 and killed many of the fish. We were so devastated and deflated that we sold the tank. It’s been a tough few weeks of reefing but we are committed to keeping the floating reef 💪 For now, here it is, fish-less: Quarantine: We hope to have positive news to share in the future. 10 Quote Link to comment
Frag Factory
Gutted for you! Having just been through a similar thing it really does feel like a kick in the balls. Humblefish posted some news lately about Ich fallow periods, basically if you turn the temperature up the fallow period is shortened greatly. 30c/86f had a 2 week fallow period... Corals won't take that temperature for long but at 27.5c/82f the fallow period was 6 weeks. Hopefully that helps you out, it would be a shame to give up your fish when they have clearly bonded with each other and you have given them names. 2 Quote Link to comment
debbeach13
Sorry to read about your problems. I am glad you are keeping the floating reef. As much as reefers need patience when starting. We need a lot more when some problems develop. All of the treatments take some serious time to resolve things. I hope things go in the right direction now. 2 Quote Link to comment
Craig.
We found a suitable home for the Big Mumma and Lil Daddy, and made the difficult decision to let them go. It was the best option for them and allows the floating reef to recover completely. Off to their new home: Empty reef: 6 Quote Link to comment

Craig.
Here’s our photo for October - the reef has been super low maintenance lately and the corals are seeming happy. We’ve added in a couple more blastos and a nice green birds nest. 11 3 Quote Link to comment
Leo_ian
Maybe do a nice trio of Andaman damsels or a Hawkfish if you are open to getting fish again? I have too many ideas but that would take too long to read 1 Quote Link to comment
Craig.
Couldn't resist a snap of the reef and our plants today! 🌿 Still no fish yet as we conclude the fallow period. 7 Quote Link to comment

Craig.
November shots! A few new corals recently added that are still settling in. In 3 weeks we can add some fish back in, we’re leaning towards a few small black bar damselfish and a yellow coral goby - any other ideas? 9 Quote Link to comment

It's actually several rocks that were glued together using a combo of epoxy and cyanoacrylate! 🙂 I bent a 6 mm (1/4 in) piece of acrylic into an 'L-shape' and then siliconed it to the back wall of the tank! It's super strong and holds the rock with ease - once filled with water, the buoyancy further reduces the load on the acrylic. The inspo for the tank, coral_fish_zoa on Instagram, gets full credit for this method! I'll share some more pics in the next update 👍 I am glad to hear this I am working on a floating aquascape for pico and have been worried about using silicone to hold the acrylic piece to glass. I am using 3/8 thick acrylic strips. 2 Quote Link to comment
