Tamberav
Glad the pico is recovering from the heat. Sorry you lost your Mandy.... doubt there was anything you could do. It sounded like it was too far gone when purchased. 1 1 Quote Link to comment

At least I tried somehow. 😞 1 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
This how the tank looks like now - I've adjusted the position of the light so that there's more coverage and less shadowing in the left corner: Pisces the Occy sprang free from the breeder box today and went straight to attacking Panda, my Perc. Both fish have minor damage to their fins - the Occy was extremely aggressive, although he would pause every now and then to do the twitchy-jerky dance - and I re-isolated Pisces into the breeder box. I'm planning on dropping by my secondary LFS tomorrow to pick up some buffers for my larger reeftank. I'm unsure if they will be willing to allow me to trade-in my fish (my primary LFS does, for credit), so I'll have to check. 1 Quote Link to comment
debbeach13
If they will take a trade in. Will you try another clown or some thing different? 1 Quote Link to comment

I honestly don't know. When I first re-converted this tank back into a reef for the contest, I wanted to keep it at 2 fish max. But I have to admit, clowns do look lovely in pairs. So I will see what's available at the LFS first. *If they have a tiny clown there, then I'll probably trade my Occy in for it. Otherwise, perhaps a small goby - like a sand-dweller like a Hi-Fin (?) would be nice. Low bioload, plus it'll occupy a different area of the tank. My Bicolor blenny is quite bold - I don't think it's wise to add any perchers with him. My Percula is very mellow for a clownfish though. Very curious fish - but timid too. 1 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Just wanted to get my monthly FTS in - not sure if I'm still in the contest since I didn't post a FTS earlier. 😞 The tank is quite bare, but still has a few remnant strands of Fern Caulerpa and a wad of Chaeto tucked behind the rocks. I think I can't convert this into a proper reef - I'll only be melting things if I try. But macros are a *bit hardier, and since I have to prune the fuge of my 60G every week, I can always toss the extra trimmings into this tank in hopes that the macro will take off. *Maybe if I'm feeling brave enough, I'll put a single shroom in this tank - just as a test. My leopard discosomas are multiplying like weeds in my large reeftank, so I can always plop a baby shroom into this nano. Fish are all doing okay - Pisces the Occy is still a jerk, but Panda has become braver over the month. My blenny is doing fine too. And Derp is still here, although he has run out of things to rip up/tear apart/knock over. Glass is quite dirty and the back chambers need some cleaning. I'll take a better photo once I've done some maintenance and WC. 4 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
I added some more macro to this tank today and cleaned the glass - tank looks wild, but I love it: Multiple FTSes today on 15/6/2020: A quick vid: Since I prune my fuge every biweekly, it's quite easy to take the excess macro and use it as display macro in this tank. I'm considering adding a mushroom or two in the future. I don't think I'll be able to do a full reef due to the temp. issues, but simple, cheap corals *might just make it. Nothing overly fancy - just the normal red or green shrooms which are very common in the hobby. 👍 5 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
I was a little bit dissatisfied by how all the pics turned out yesterday (too blue). So today, I re-took some pics using a clip on yellow lens filter to capture more accurate colors for this tank: Dusky, my bicolor blenny: Derp the hermit: Panda enjoying a swim: Parts of the underwater jungle: FTS on 16/6/2020: Full tank video: 5 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Fed the fish some frozen BBS today - my clowns weren't too sold on it, but Dusky the blenny seemed to like it very much: 🤗 4 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Update #1: My black clown gobies weren't getting along in my pico, and one of them sustained a tear on its dorsal fin. I moved it to the nano, and it immediately attempted to blend into my caulerpa jungle: 🤣 His name is Nox. And his personality really came through when I switched tanks on him today: I also fed the tank some frozen pods today, and Panda the percula went nuts for them: 😅 Dusky the blenny was more sedate, but he still couldn't resist snatching up a pod or two from his burrow: 1 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Update #2. Derp definitely was happy there was so much food in the tank for a change: And all the fish were pleased as well: I'm still waiting for my primary LFS to reopen to rehome Pisces the regular clownfish. He is still in the breeder box, which is a bit unfortunate, but he won't stop attacking Panda otherwise. Anyhow, here is my FTS on 03/07/2020: I haven't WCed this tank for almost 2 months, I believe. Just relying on top-offs - no dosing either. Will probably do a small WC next week. The macro seems happy enough. 🤔 7 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
I finally took down this tank today, stripped-cleaned it, and am currently drying it outside: My platinum percula, Panda, was moved to my 10G mixed reef nanoreeftank (journal thread is in my signature below) in my bedroom several days ago. My bicolor blenny, Dusky, is currently in my 60G mixed reef tank. My remaining clownfish, Pisces, is in a small holding container in the 60G - I intend to rehome him through my primary LFS next week. As for the future of this tank, it'll be re-set as a FW tank - I'm thinking of either setting up a small tetra community or female betta sorority tank. With kuhli loaches. I love kuhlis. 🥰 I took down this tank because I wanted to focus on keeping only 2 reeftanks - having a third tank was a bit of a struggle for me, and this tank kept getting neglected. 😓 At least as a FW tank, maintenance will be much more easier and less costly as well. I already have all the equipment - just need to cycle this tank all over again and get some fish in the upcoming weeks. 👍 Once it's up and properly running again, I'll try to post up another pic of the reboot. I'm still researching which combination of fish I'd like to keep in this - will take a look online at other set ups. 😊👍 4 1 Quote Link to comment

I’m finding 3 tanks to be too much as well and considering breaking one down. Look forward to seeing the FW reboot! 1 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
I finally re-set the tank today & its currently cycling. Basically turned it into a FW Candyland - a small tribute to my childhood, and how I used to keep my first fish as a kid decades ago: It might look too bright/colorful/artificial to most people, but *I love the way it looks! 🥰 As for stocking - I've decided on either these fish: •Tetras •Tiger barbs •Swordtails •Mollies •Corycats •Kuhli Loaches I'm not getting *everything - these are just examples of fish choices that I'm looking into. My LFS has a variety of fish to choose from though, so I might end up doing a small tetra community tank. Tank looks okay so far - I think the cycle should be complete in a week or two though. I'll seed it further with bacteria from my established 70G FW eel tank outdoors. 😊👍 I also might add some real floating plants at the top though. I have four types in my planted tank in the sideporch, and I'm currently using a Chihiros LED strip for light, so it should be enough for some basic floaters. 👍 2 Quote Link to comment

I absolutely do love it. 🙂 29 minutes ago, debbeach13 said: Every kid I know would love this tank. My little cousins just visited my house tonight - the youngest, who is 6, absolutely loves the tank too. She liked the gravel the most - I told them where to get the plastic plants & gravels to add to their mini aquarium at home (I gifted them my ex-picoreef, and they now use it to house guppies). I didn't need to spend much - with the exception of the gravel and a few plastic deco pieces (which were all very cheap), everything else has been re-used from the previous setup and previous FW tanks. I'll try to visit my FW LFS to get some inspiration for which fish to stock it with. I'd love to do a small community tank - tetras are the best fit, with perhaps a trio of Kuhli loaches. Nothing too heavy, bioload-wise. 🙂 3 Quote Link to comment
Tamberav
I have too many tanks so they all get neglected. I should probably only have two. I like the fw neon colors. It’s retro 🙂 2 1 Quote Link to comment
