devaji108
that is good to hear he's swimming around and eating like a champ! Quote Link to comment
waldoz
Well looks like we have a decision to make.. 🙂 Stay in the contest or transfer everything over to the 25 Lagoon. I think we could but its 25 gallon and that is breaking the rules. The good news is the scape its almost the same display size in front but deeper. I really would like to finish out the contest though. That would give us some time to find a stand and get everything figured out. 1 Quote Link to comment
waldoz
My son is getting tired of scooping RODI water out so looking for either brute Tash can or a 55 GL drum . Anyone local know good source for clean drum? They can be used. Just don't know if we need that much for 25 gallon. I always thought you needed enough to do 100% water change if something nuked the tank. 😬 Space is pretty limited in the garage, so looking for some good options. Thanks! Quote Link to comment

Might as well stick it out to the end. Quote Link to comment
waldoz
We still have a lot to get for the tank so I am sure that is what will happen. 2 Quote Link to comment
waldoz
Yeah son is super bummed after we figured out what these were. Spreading all over the tank. Took while to find out that these are Digitate Hydroid. Here is 30 pages on getting rid of them on RTR . fenbendazole-use-against-hydroids! Another sad note the lawnmower blenny did not make it. We been trying to get him to eat other stuff but would not eat anything. We were going to take him back to CFC but he was a gonner in the morning. 😞 Headed down to CFC on the hunt for a six line wrasse. They were out but might have one in the frag tanks. Son was looking around and spotted one. They dug that little guy out and took a bit to catch him. Also another positive note my son did his first fraging. Utter chaos did really good job and I didn't even help. Not much else going on but probably going to look for a used Tunze comline DOC 9001 skimmer so we can dose the tank and get rid of the Hydroids. So much fun 😀 Quote Link to comment
debbeach13
Too bad about loosing the fish and getting hydroids. Great job fragging and that was nice that the store got the fish he wanted. Ups and downs that is reefing. 1 Quote Link to comment
waldoz
Yeah he is talking about start the whole tank over instead of nuking those hydroids out. LoL Told him to slow down 🤣 we will get this done. 1 Quote Link to comment

We are on tight budget so have to make it work. Remember that hole in the earlier post? Got some wire sheathing for Ninja wire run! Feeding it through and just barely fit. 🙂 Next we had some heavy duty Velcro and stuck the power pack on the stand. If we move it up or down its stuck to the light fixture, so no problems. Ran it all the way through the top and over. I kinda wish they did not use that big honking thing but it still looks pretty clean. My son is super happy with it and how it turned out. 😜 Its now sitting in his room being moved around for the perfect spot. This might be the tank shot for the month. LOL We will have to see how things get going in the next few weeks. Need to nail down few details but shipment should be coming in and we can update our parts list a little. Fingers crossed, the light is 12" above the water line. We also have 2" upward adjustment if needed get more spread. We will have to clean the tanks out some little dirty from putting rocks in there etc. Also does anyone know about putting a mat under the tank and is really needed? Thanks All for now. tight buget eh, tight budget to me was sticking a tank on a sturdy coffe table 😅 Quote Link to comment
waldoz
Got these critters all over the glass. 😒 This is better shot of the worm things. Seriously thinking about restarting the tank or let it run and restart fresh with the new tank. Quote Link to comment
spectra
Wrasse doesn’t like them ? Quote Link to comment
waldoz
That was the hope. He has not found them and we're not feeding him hopefully he will still find them. There must be food as he is still pecking around. 2 Quote Link to comment
waldoz
My son got tired of the plastic cover so went got 3/16 glass cut for $12. Looks way better. The way we set up the rear chambers won't be able to have an accurate ATO. This was the option we decided to go with. Cut some clear tube an slid on the lip so water would roll off to the side. Had the glass cut so would have enough room to get your fingers in there to take it off. Not much else going on trying to save up for a Tunze 9001 comline skimmer. Son needs to pick up some side jobs 😄 2 Quote Link to comment
waldoz
Got this off local member works great and finally full! No more scooping out water. 😁 Plug it in pump returns or goes out. Also if we want can hook a hose up but just put a 90 on it so we can run it to a bucket. We don't have 250 gl tank so no need for now. 1 Quote Link to comment
waldoz
We have worst luck with shrimp. He doesn't look like he is doing well but I think the said he was 3 yrs old already and he was a replacement. LoL My son thinks it's was 5. If it is 5 yrs that makes more sense. 1 Quote Link to comment
waldoz
I thought I share something pretty funny. So my son was on a mission to move the BTA. 🤭 Well he was pretty determined. So he tried to message his foot and that didn't work. Next he tried the ice cube bit and that didn't work. Then he hung him just above the water for hour and a half. That guy didn't move at all. Personally I think it's fine. He wanted to see more of him in the open. I told him he got owned by the BTA.😂 I suggested he feed him more and he might actually grow out of that spot. LoL 1 Quote Link to comment
Matteo
Don't move it! It's happy where it is. Moving can cause mad stress and you can tear the foot. Quote Link to comment
waldoz
He gave up after all those tries and he knew the risk. I made sure he was careful but it was a good lesson I think. 🙂 One other thing he did not try was a flower pot with a hole in the bottom but he has given up. LOL 2 Quote Link to comment
waldoz
Good news hydroids seem to be almost gone. Red snot slowly going away did 4 gallon change cleaned the sand up. Need the mini phyton though I think. The medium is good but to big for getting around the tank. Definitely would get both and turbo snail we should of not gotten him. He runs all over everything 🤣 1 Quote Link to comment
waldoz
So we were having a micro bubble problem. The water level would drop a little and the cascading water would create tiny bubbles. I had a this sponge laying around from a AC50 thought would try it out. Seems to be working well but will have to keep an eye on it for build up. Also if the frog spawn slimes out from being pissed off its an automatic filter floss change out the next day or sooner. 4 Quote Link to comment
waldoz
So some how the clown swam his way on to the filter floss. He was there all night I would assume. He doesn't look good at all. Don't think he is going to make it through the night. Our thoughts are he might have sucked some crap up laying on the floss. Fingers crossed 🤞 3 Quote Link to comment
waldoz
BTA ate the clown. Trying to figure out where to go from here. Been thinking about a net of some sort 3d printed. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
waldoz
The BTA is still alive and seems to be doing good. Still in n the same spot. Been trying to get down to CFC get some coral to brighten up the tank. Hope to have some up dates soon. 4 Quote Link to comment

waldoz
Finally heading down to CFC on Saturday. Been busy with new job and other projects. Not sure what will end up with but nothing green my son says. LoL 2 Quote Link to comment
