waldoz
Whelp finally it was the last straw for the pep shrimp.😤 From this : To this: We lost the 6 line... Thinking maybe that the Ricordia nuked the tank, but not sure. It happened so fast. Did a 3 gallon water change today. We picked up a pajama cardinal fish because the 6 line died. My son said that the tank looked empty. The LFS took care of us for sure. 👍 Took back the little monster and they said they would cover some loss and do a straight trade. I was not expecting that, but we try to go down often because we have such good experiences there. One other thing, the water bottle trap worked perfectly to catch the pep. We tried everything else. Cut the top off and reverse it into the bottle, throw some treats in, and 5 min later we got him.😁 1 Quote Link to comment
ausram
Appreciate the heads up on the bottle trap. Glad you got the sucker! Quote Link to comment
waldoz
Never again! I think we got off easy. Quote Link to comment
waldoz
Yeah, cynao outbreak. ☹️ Trying to work through it. Read a bunch of stuff see what happens. The tank looks pretty bad , definitely a roller coaster. 1 Quote Link to comment

I just did a treatment in my tank recently and worked just great. full disclosure- this may or may not be related issues at all, but after the treatment I did have a few heads of blastos dying off, the heads are now in recovery and getting healthier again so idk, besides that nothing suffered beside the cyano. waldoz
Yeah petco down the road has it in stock. He is trying few things. I think it killed the meteor shower though. ☹️ Meteor shower is brown...... Oh that just molting shell. 😁 Quote Link to comment
waldoz
Turbo snail kicked the bucket.☹️ The other 3 are fine, must not been enough of the correct algae. Would not even eat nori when offered. 1 Quote Link to comment
waldoz
One of our sticks bleached out last night along with few other coral. Temp dropped to 72 or 74. We think the heater is taking a crap. It was 80 so my son turned it down so that's the lower temperature 🤒. Doing a 4 gl water change and setting up a Jager 75w to replace it. Hopefully they will survive but don't look good. Good lesson I guess to learn early on. Quote Link to comment

It’s a second line of defense for a failed heater. Heater Fails on, the ink bird will cycle it on/off to keep temp regulated as normal. Fails off it has an alarm if it gets too cold. Alarm for too hot too, and can cycle a fan or chiller on/off as needed. Quote Link to comment
waldoz
Yeah think that's on the list for the 60. Pretty sad his cat paw is probably toast. He bought that one himself but we will get the other tank going . Learning a lot from this one for sure. Quote Link to comment
waldoz
So doing cyano treatment we kinda gave up and getting really bad. Just couldn't dig our way out. You can see the bleached out coral. Still seeing if there is small chance of coming back. Still polyps on them but not many. Be interesting to see what it does in 48 hrs. Frogspawn still pissed off. Been like that since the disaster. Recalibrated the refractometer was not far off. Replace the heater. I think we are going to get a good test kit like refuses or hanna for the 60. RBTAs are doing good and Zoa's opening up though. Went to petco and picked up chemipure and $5 air pump. We always check out their tanks to see what's wrong with them saltwater wise.😬 Guy was throwing out stuff calling it black bag cleaning 🤣. So I was like uh what's that? It's dead he says so I said you chucking it I'll take it. I think it's a poor toad stool but not sure. Anyone have any ideas? Probably some sort of mushroom 🍄. It might be a goner already. 🙄 Going to dip before it goes in. Quote Link to comment
waldoz
Cyano seems to have cleared up some. Doing 20% water change tonight blowing off rocks etc. Going to wait a week see how it is. Also think of doing a sand rinse. Love mr crabs though. 1 Quote Link to comment
waldoz
Looks like cyano is gonzo.😁 Still cleaning up the left overs with a tooth brush 😅 We lost a few but these guys are doing ok. Had two of these but only have one left. Sticks still alive. Still have not figured out what happened 😅 This one never blinked an eye. Sorry about the pictures.😂 moto 6 3 Quote Link to comment
waldoz
I need like a micro lens or something.😁 Need to get some more stuff but holding off till the 60 cube. Though toad stool is on my list. Would like to get one of those going. Possible trade with locals for a slice? 1 Quote Link to comment
waldoz
So I been trying to battle this for a while. We think the cyano was competing with it. It really taking over everything. I even scrubbed the rock down with a tooth brush. Any one know what it is? Quote Link to comment
debbeach13
Can you get a less blue picture? Natural lighting or white light. Quote Link to comment
waldoz
That's as close as I could get with my phone settings. I can try when I get home after work. Quote Link to comment
waldoz
Ok so the microscope was a Ultron super expensive but more for circuit boards. I had it as high power as it would go. I didn't think it really helps out with identification. I was able to get a picture but it's not that great. 😆. As far as I could tell it looks like single cell? Quote Link to comment

It'd be neat to see pods and other small visible things with that. You could always get one of these sub-twenty dollar kids scopes: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=1200x+microscope+kids These are usually fine if you don't plan on using it very much. Quote Link to comment
waldoz
My other friend had this. Absolutely junk can't even focus. 😐 Quote Link to comment
seabass
For a decent microscope, I'd actually recommend at least 1000x magnification, with a metal frame, and fine focus adjustment. They're like $80: https://www.amazon.com/AmScope-M150C-I-40X-1000X-Biological-Microscope/dp/B00AM5XB5O/ Quote Link to comment
waldoz
Yeah I am into telescopes. They are kinda like micro scopes better optics better image. Going to look around for some used ones. I personally would rather spend the money on ato. ☹️ 1 Quote Link to comment

My second guess would be Alcaligenes faecalis, a bacterial slime often caused by DOCs... perfumes, air fresheners, candles, basement tanks, fire places, etc Quote Link to comment

Not using any smell stuff or any of the others in the room. They did use candle melt thing few months ago but the tank also has a lid. Quote Link to comment
