Kat_Syd
Hey all 👋, long time lurker, first time posting. I’ve been meaning to create a journal for my AquaOne 90l but never got around to it.  Sooo....I came across a Facebook post Who mentioned this 365 day challenge... and looks I am accepting. If not for the win, for at least along for the fun ride 🤗 with you all!  Equipment: Aquamanta Xanti 40L - $40 Facebook Market Place Bargin 💰 (Well at least I thiknk it was) Pump: AquaOne Heater: AquaOne   Reason for a new tank..... My beloved bully of a Pixie Hawk fish. He just didn’t know how to play nice with some fishy’s. And because I can’t bare to part with him, he is getting a new home. Plus, it’s an easy excuse to get another tank and hopefully find him the perfect tanks mate or two.  7 1 Quote Link to comment

Kat_Syd
The tank has been cycling since Feb 10 and has been going well. First time using live sand - not sure I like it yet - very fine substrate and easily disturbed. Usually use Fiji Pink in my other/previous tanks.   Decided to try man made rock for the first time, I liked the bridge look. But also love the natural forms and challenges that come with live rock.... and hitch hiker surprises - hoping I will come home with a bonus and not something that will be a big pest. So I went half and half.    Live rock didn't disappoint. I check it regularly and try to spy any little critters that pop out. Love the discovery. Although, not 100% sure on species I have, so please, if you have any knowledge I would love some insight.  Looks like so far I have spotted: Purple/black baby cucumber Two crabs - Red/Orange & Black/green with yellowish markings A couple of Chitons Pistol shrimp (greenish I think - was a quick spotto - tiny) Would explain the random clicking 😅 I little shrimp looking thing - running around (have a few - some in the sump of my 90L that escaped the live while it housed the live rock until I had the tank ready to go) Got a video - but very quick. Interested to see what it may be. some little mussel like creatures Spotted a flat worm - got a banana Wrasse to try and eliminate it and more if there are some. The one I saw seems to be dead - no more spotted so far. Although I know these things can pop up later down the line. Images below of some of the critters.   2 2 Quote Link to comment
debbeach13
That tank looks so nice. I love yellow fish. How is it doing? 1 Quote Link to comment
Kat_Syd
It's been many day since my last update, other prioty matters have been taking up my time - but with the state of the world right now I have a little more time - though still going to work each day - just mean less travel up north for now. There has been a little update on the tank. On 3/9/2020 at 7:08 AM, debbeach13 said: That tank looks so nice. I love yellow fish. How is it doing? The Yellow wrasse is doing really well. Not hiding as much - extending it's appearce hours more and more - so I do get to see him/her when I get home from work now, and not just on the weekends 😆 He now sleeps in the sand against the glass too so I know where he is. The disapearance act always had me worried at first 😅. I think we have formed a bond, now that he realises I am the food giver 😂.New addtions to the tank:My little clown fish. He was getting beat up by the apparent female pair up so I needed to move him before it got out of hand - so he is now buddies with the Wrasse - who I think also gave him confidence to swim through the whole tank. Fins are starting to look a bit better (it's been around 4 weeks since his move). Coral Clown Goby Been in the tank for 3 weeks so far. He is like a where's wally, but slowly starting to hang out front now. Wasn't a fan of pellets at first, but slowly realising this is the go to food - happy to see him eat! (Yet to get a photo if him)  Upgrade my light Upgraded from a MariGlo to an AI Prime 🤘 I was tried for turing lights on and off and wanted more control, and in all my research I just loved my AI on my other tank that I caved. I will update later with a full shot mounted. First coral added - Acan Never had Acans before, and I was thinking to maybe going a acan garden. So got my first little guy and so far so good. Looking to buy just little frags to fill my tanks. Need to try and sorce locals who sell small frags. Quote Link to comment
