Tamberav
Here is some close ups of the rock. It will be a rough cycle first few days. The water I put it in this morning is already cloudy blooming with bacteria. I plan to do another 100 change tonight before bed. 36 minutes ago, Dirté Sanchez said: Uh, what’s the other stuff? I got a bunch of LR from TBS a few years ago so much life on it. the a pistal or 2 would snap and keep me up and night tank was in my bedroom. hard to beat real life rock eh? 4 Quote Link to comment

These worms are vital for processing the waste that would otherwise accumulate on the ocean’s floor. They are a crucial link in the food chain… which ultimately benefits species higher up in the pecking order (like us). 5 Quote Link to comment

Heck ya! I have had gulf live rock in the past, that one came with lots of corals. It is very dense and the shapes kind of blah but the life on it was fantastic. This stuff doesn't have coral but great shapes. I have not tried Tampa yet but I have heard of people getting live fish with it. 3 1 Quote Link to comment

Elizabeth94
Wow you got a lot more crabs than I did. In fact, I only found one live pencil urchin. It is beautiful rock though, im sure I have stuff hiding deep inside that hasn’t shown its face yet! 2 Quote Link to comment
ECLS Reefer
Was the shipping for that rock crazy expensive? It sure is pretty rock. At my LFS I get the painted stuff for color and then I dig through their dregs bin to try and find the holiest rocks they have. A lot of their stuff isn't the best. You'd think being in Houston they'd have actual Gulf rock. 1 Quote Link to comment

I told them to ship after the next fresh collection, they said I would get more hitchhikers that way. I did see a tiny pencil urchin. Tampa and gulf def have more variety of hitchhikers but this rock has beautiful shapes and all that delicious bacteria diversity. 1 hour ago, Dirté Sanchez said: Was the shipping for that rock crazy expensive? Tamberav
Got it wet....just the return pump running atm. Will need to set up the heater and such tomorrow. It's still cycling and all that jazz. 15 2 Quote Link to comment
Tamberav
The tank is still cycling but have this little cute hasslets goby waiting for when the tank is ready for fish. He has been sitting at the LFS for weeks because the average aquariast doesn't seem to like the oddities. 13 2 Quote Link to comment

debbeach13
cool. I wonder if he will be easy or hard to see. I guess it will depend on where he is or what coral he is next to. Do you know much about where he comes from and his habitat? 1 Quote Link to comment

From what I could find, shallow water/tide pool dweller, I mean like 2 inches at times. They are camo to hide from birds and should be extremely hardy and adaptable as they are found in water that gets as high as 100 degrees. Apparently occurs in brackish water too. Makes sense since tidepool critters have to deal with extremes and changes. 4 Quote Link to comment

Tamberav
LFS has a few odd's come in this week. Won't get a chance to go see them until tomorrow though. Most not suitable for this tank but still... I have never seen a mini dart goby in person. Atlantic Cling Fish Panda Goby Mini Dart Goby 1 Quote Link to comment
