Hi all I will have an 110 tank in a few months upgrades from a 40, I would love a powered blue tang. I’ve heard a great variety of tank sizes for these guys, some say 300 min others say 90, anyone have experience and can clarify?

More about length of tank then actual dimensions. They can be jerks to other fish.

Yeah pretty much this. Most tangs are going to need at least 6 feet of running space. For that reason, as far as standard tanks go, I usually consider the minimum size for them to be 180 gallons. A 110 standard (usually 4 feet) would house a little one for a bit, but they'd grow out of it pretty quick

Agreed....I'd say a "large 6 footer" for these guys.  I would stick with the smaller, easier tangs in anything less like a 125 Gallon.   Wouldn't even bother with a tang in 4' tank unless it was 200-300 gallons or more.

My PBT grew from been an emaciated, disease 2 incher to 6.5 inches in 1 year.  He out grew my 65 gal in about 4 months so I moved him to my 320 gal DT.

4/22/2018 when I first got him from LiveAquaria on sale.  I did not expect such a poor specimen, or expect him to pull through.

I have 6 Tangs in my 6ft 135g tank.  Down to 5 now as i took my powder brown out due to aggression.  Hes now in my 60g hexagon by himself and hes doing fine.. The tank is only 30 inchs wide and 25 front to back.

If you keeping only 1-3 tangs id say any 4 ft tank will be fine.. especially if theyre smaller tangs.. Like A tomini or kole tang or what not.

Not cool, poor fish needs a lot of room. Just saying. I hope you have a plan to rehome him to someone else with a bigger tank.
