Yeah pretty much this. Most tangs are going to need at least 6 feet of running space. For that reason, as far as standard tanks go, I usually consider the minimum size for them to be 180 gallons. A 110 standard (usually 4 feet) would house a little one for a bit, but they'd grow out of it pretty quick 1 Quote Link to comment
mcarroll Posted March 8, 2020 Share Posted March 8, 2020 Agreed....I'd say a "large 6 footer" for these guys. I would stick with the smaller, easier tangs in anything less like a 125 Gallon. Wouldn't even bother with a tang in 4' tank unless it was 200-300 gallons or more. 1 Quote Link to comment

He out grew my 65 gal in about 4 months so I moved him to my 320 gal DT. 4/22/2018 when I first got him from LiveAquaria on sale. I did not expect such a poor specimen, or expect him to pull through. Candymancan Posted April 14, 2020 Share Posted April 14, 2020 I have 6 Tangs in my 6ft 135g tank. Down to 5 now as i took my powder brown out due to aggression. Hes now in my 60g hexagon by himself and hes doing fine.. The tank is only 30 inchs wide and 25 front to back. If you keeping only 1-3 tangs id say any 4 ft tank will be fine.. especially if theyre smaller tangs.. Like A tomini or kole tang or what not. 1 Quote Link to comment
