m05tw4nt3d
Hey, I have recently set up a new tank that is around 8 weeks old. It has just started to get a cyano outbreak. Is this normal for a new tank? Quote Link to comment
banasophia
Hi! Can you post a pic of your tank and tell us more? Quote Link to comment
mcarroll
Pretty normal. But you should be seeing green hair algae (or similar) showing up soon if not already. Then coralline algae. If your tank is stuck growing just cyanobacteria, then something is wrong and the tank isn't progressing for some reason. Over filtration or over-cleaning are a little on the common side, but there can be a variety of other causes. How was the tank started and how have you been taking care of it in the meantime? Can you post you most recent test results for ca, all, mg, no3 and po4? Quote Link to comment
banasophia
That’s about when it hit mine, I treated with Chemiclean and it cleared up in 48 hours and did not return so far... it has been about a month. I see you posted this over a month ago, hopefully it’s resolved by now. 🤞 1 Quote Link to comment
