tkw1978
Hi all, I’ve got an Evo 13.5 and having a hard time keeping the sand looking clean. I’ve got a couple snails but am thinking about adding a Goby. ive got the following in the tank already: 2 x clownfish 1 x wrasse 1 x anemone several corals 3 x snails 2 x hermits is adding a goby too much? Tired
A goby will not help. Sand sifting gobies mostly starve in all but the largest tanks, anyway. Your tank is already fully stocked, possibly overstocked. What type of clownfish, wrasse, and anemone do you have? It may not be possible for you to keep the sand spotless, but what's going on with it? How old is your tank? What are your water parameters? EXACT parameters, not just "fine". 2 Quote Link to comment
Clown79
Any sand shifting goby that you could get for your size tank, are not easy fish to keep and with 3 fish in a 13.5, you're fully stocked. You can get Nassaurius snails, hermits, cerith snails Vacuuming the sand bed during waterchanges will certainly help. 2 Quote Link to comment
mcarroll
On top of the other caveats mentioned already I'd worry about the goby getting eaten by the anemone. Quote Link to comment
jambon
As Clown79 said vacuuming the sand bed works well. I am not sure which snails do this but some live in the sandbed stirring it up and eating off the detritus. Bristle worms help with this a bit also.. they are nasty looking but they dont bother much. Humblefish
A few Nassarius Snails may help, but vacuuming the sand bed is probably the most practical solution here. Quote Link to comment
