Friendly
right now I'm thinking about how awesome it would be to have a 3D printed bonsai tree, with tiers / platforms and then let my corals fill it out for the leaves / fronds / needles. I've read a thread on reddit about someone who made something like a bonsai to grow moss on in a fresh water aquarium and it was a success (no livestock loss and moss did grow). there was also a comment about someone with a reef having something 3D printed for years with no detriment to the livestock either. just emailed a 3D printer supply shop in Canada about this kinda thing...use non-dyed plastics to protect from leeching. comments or even possible designs / templates appreciated! 1 Quote Link to comment
a_pmech84
My son does 3D printing as a hobby. We have spoke about this and according to his knowledge he say using a filament called PLA, I believe, is not supposed to leech color or chemicals into water. I'm pretty sure he said PLA but I will verify it with him. I considered having him print a sort of pyramid hollowed out to allow complete flow for a taller 40 gallon cube I had. Quote Link to comment
