xiaoxiy
Bounce split and healed! The baby has huge bubbles as well. 3 Quote Link to comment
Tired
Sheesh. That doesn't even look like a mushroom so much as a collection of... fungal balloons. It looks like if you poke one, it'd pop and gush spores. I'm surprised it can operate like a normal coral with all that going on. Does it ever deflate the bubbles any, or is it just permanently like that? Quote Link to comment

I poked a hole in one of the bubbles once, and just watched it slowly deflate, but nothing came out of the hole though. It healed by the next day and was inflated again! The bounce reminds me of a colorful bubble coral. 2 Quote Link to comment

All my sticks are well... Sticks haha not much colony action yet. Encrusting yes but it'll probably be another 6+ months until my tank fills in. All my Corals are pretty "fraggy" looking but oh well 1 Quote Link to comment

xiaoxiy
I've been designing a new upgrade for when my corals outgrow this tank. I think I'm gonna do a 5 foot peninsula and coordinate it with my basement remodel. 3 Quote Link to comment

xiaoxiy
Not everything about reefing is beauty and growing things. I spent most of this morning tearing out my GSP from the sandbed and holding the big ass base of my aquascape over a sink to scrape off all the GSP that had encrusted onto my rock. I'm done with GSP; I noticed yesterday that it was stinging the crap out of my ricordeas and other corals. I also got stung a million times by bristle worms hiding in the GSP mats. On the flip side, no more visible GSP in the tank. IT'S GONE. In the process of scraping the GSP from the rock, I totally destroyed my red monti cap and now it's only 2/3rds of the size it used to be. I also took the opportunity to frag the Maimi Chalice back a bit as well. I finally siphoned out a majority of the coarse, coraline covered sand pieces that had accumulated on the sandbed in hopes of making my sandbed fine and white again. I also threw in some new carbon in case things I released some bad stuff into the tank from all of this work. 2 Quote Link to comment
xiaoxiy
I've also scraped the back glass and the water has cleared up some. Really glad I scraped the glass; now the scape really stands out. 5 2 Quote Link to comment

Spencer7
Looks great. Surprised you had that GSP in there to begin with. Don't see too many people with those circulators! I'd like to do something similar with gyre's in the future. Keep my sides clear. Quote Link to comment

I was really skeptical at first about the Tunze Stream IIIs, but they've won my heart. 5 year warranty plus minimal maintenance is amazing. The flow they put out is insane as well. 1 Quote Link to comment
xiaoxiy
I've been eyeing Reefi LEDs for a while now, and finally bit the bullet and got a pair. I'm apprehensive about what change this will do to my coral growth, but I hope this'll be a positive move in the right direction. The lights are super high quality, and the best part is the fact that there is absolutely no side at all, which allows me to sit on my couch and not be blinded by the light! Prior to making the swap, I did some PAR mapping, which I matched with the ReefiLEDs (and now running the acclimation mode for 85% over 21 days). Here's the PAR map of my old lights. One last hurrah with monthly growth updates with the old lights. April to May. 2 Quote Link to comment
