My WWC Yellow Tips is getting kinda large, and I decided to dig out some old photos of it to see how fast it's been growing. I'm blown away at how fast acros grow when they are happy.

Very impressive 😀

Now don't change anything and make sure everything is placed how you like it for the big 'grow-in'!

That’s crazy growth for under 4 month!  I think the bigger they are, the faster they grow. Can’t wait for mine to hit a good stride like that.

It feels like the growth has been exponential! I can't wait to see how big some of my current 2 inch mini colonies get in 4 months!

Sorry for so many back to posts. I've been reviewing some more growth pictures this evening and thought I'd share for those interested in what has happened with my growth since swapping to LEDs. So far I'm confident in saying that, growth didn't skip a beat going from a MH/T5/LED Hybrid to the ReeFi, and coloration may actually even improved a bit. Will continue to keep ya'll updated.

Enough talk, here are growth pictures of my acropora over the past 2 weeks. The first set of pictures is 1 week (May 15th) before I changed lights and the second set is 1 week after light change (May 28th)

@DreC80 and @Cannedfish  i don’t want you guys missing out on this awesome sps tank in the making.

Aww thanks. I'm not doing anything special. I think the thing that's been working well for me this time around is just tank stability.

Dang, I missed your new thread until just now! I love the tank and the growth and colors are right on point as usual. Very cool to compare the yellow tips colors between your tank and mine, too.

Thanks, I took a look at the journal earlier today.  It is an awesome SPS tank...love how it started with halides too.  Bright lights, lots of flow...great colors and growth.

Look forward to following along.

Thanks for joining! I loved the halide, it just started getting too hot and humid in the room as spring came around. 😞

I hear ya.  I used to run 2x 250w and 1x 400w halide with vho actinics back in the day.  Needless to say...I also had a chiller.

Jesus, that's a lot of heat. Mimics a nice summer day on the beach though :).

Hi.. so how are the AWC coming? No issues with input matching output?  I had considered that route but abandoned that after reading about a constant battle.

super nice setup.

I don’t typically look at each portion of my aquascape individually, but damn these two structures would look hot by themselves in their own nano cube!

3 week review. I love the Reefi. 100% happy with the swap from MH/T5/LED to them. Growth has continued to remain steady. Coloration on my acros is more intense. No side glare and no issues with heat in my room anymore!

Past 2 weeks of growth with Reefi LED:

And subsequent obligatory ~30 growth.

It's kind of quiet in here.... growth continues to remains steady: 18th to 28th. The coming weekend, I am going to try to re-plumb and move my sump to the basement. Wish me luck.

I'm terrified. Good news is I have two other veteran reefers/plumbers coming by to help me with the plumbing and setup. I'm also looking forward to being able to not bend over to perform maintenance, having my tank room be absolutely silent (no more noisy DOS AWC or dosing pump noises), not having to lug top off water upstairs and having a room to plumb in a frag tank too!

That’s awesome!!  It’s pretty much the same as having it under the cabinet, I assume?  You’re just extending the pipes down thru the floor? Or are there more to it than that?

Yup! Straight through the floor. I'm anxious cause I'll have to glue things and put them to use within minutes-hours instead of the typical 24 hour cure time. A lot of reefers have done it without problems though in the past...

I can't believe I only have 6 fish in such a big tank... stupid clowns...
