partlycloudy531
I woke up to my skimmer overflowing big time, water flowing out the top and back into the tank. I typically skim very dry so I rarely see any overflow. Even after significantly lowering the water level in the skimmer neck, there was still a lot of foam dumping into the cup. I did a water change about 5 days ago but other than that I have not done anything to the tank except feed the same pellets I always feed. The only thing I can think of is last night we put a real Christmas tree in the living room, probably 10-12ft across the room from the tank. Could the oils from the tree have caused my skimmer to go crazy? Has anyone experienced this before? Quote Link to comment
Christopher Marks
That’s unusual! I’ve never noticed anyone mentioning a correlation before. Quote Link to comment
Tired
I doubt it. The tree isn't exactly a diffuser, after all. It shouldn't be putting off droplets. Guessing you might have a dead snail somewhere, or something spawned in the tank. 1 Quote Link to comment
A.m.P
Might not be the problem, but trees actually do off-gas significantly, also worth noting that many christmas trees are coated in pesticides and other such nonsense before being shipped out.https://earthdata.nasa.gov/learn/sensing-our-planet/volatile-trees 3 Quote Link to comment
