DyloHeath
Hey Guys, Long story short. Recently my two clownfish died from internal parasites. (very upsetting) I've decided at this point that I only want the tank to have corals from now on. Might change my mind later on but im still a little upset. I want to know if my tank is looking normal or has some underlying issues. Sand is discolored in areas Chaeto is growing over the live rock (I have been removing each water change) Rocks are a green/yellow color My coral have been thriving, parameters are: Magnesium: 1130 Ca: 350 KH/ALK: 6.4 PO4: >0.003 Rest are low. I've been thinking of raising my magnesium to 1300. Photos attached, any advice would be helpful. Tank is 4 months old. Quote Link to comment

mitten_reef
No need to panic. Do slightly bigger water changes. Beef up your cuc’s, I don’t spot any in the pics. If you can try to scrub it off and suck it out during water change, that would be good too. Quote Link to comment
Clown79
Params are a bit low. Alk should be 7 or higher, ca 380 or higher, mag 1200 or higher What is salinity at and what salt is used? Quote Link to comment

Salinity I keep at 1.025 Salt is Red Sea coral pro salt The instructions have two options: Mixed Reef and SPS Frags/Accelerated Growth I've been using the mix reef option here is the options in table form: Quote Link to comment

It may not be hair algae if it stif to the touch. Chaeto don’t generally spontaneously show up all over the rock either. You have to purposely introduce chaeto or other macroalgae to a tank. Either that or your rocks have to once been covered in them. Since they look like dry rocks, this second scenario is unlikely. Quote Link to comment

My chaeto is in a hang on filter, and pieces are always flowing into tank and around it. It doesn't quite have the same texture as chaeto so Im not sure right now. Its rough, and solid in texture. I never go by the actual amounts they state, I just add salt to my water and test until right. Coral pro has specific mixing instructions and how long it can be saved for. It can precipitate if mixed wrong and levels changed if its saved past a week. Quote Link to comment
