Humblefish
Purely hypothetical but ... What if online fish vendors used a small amount of Chaetomorpha when shipping fish? Chaeto consumes ammonia + carbon dioxide, releases oxygen ... The only real downside I can think of is if harmful pathogens (parasites, worms, bacteria) hitchhiked their way into the bag water via Chaeto.🤨 Quote Link to comment

Being a photosynthetic it needs light to process the ammonia and co2 into oxygen. Though very minimal and most likely negligible, the cheato will actually absorb oxygen in its dark period while breaking down what it consumed during the day light. 1 Quote Link to comment
Ratvan
I thought you were going to introduce "plastic" made from macro algae polymers being used to ship fish Quote Link to comment
