Ratvan
Damn 25MB Upload limit, and now viewing the pictures on my PC I cant make a damn thing out Some worm thing, and some form of largish pods living in the rocks. Realised yesterday I booked the incorrect day off of work and corals are arriving today. Fantastic! Quote Link to comment
Ratvan
Urgh places and people dont listen. Should have arrived on my birthday 28th. Got a free Pavona and coral food. Look pissed off as left outside for pretty much the whole day.... royal fail strikes again 4 Quote Link to comment
Ratvan
Doesnt look too bad. Only 1 of the frags has not shown polyps after an hour, 1 of them looks pretty beaten up but no worse than I have done with my yellow stylopora 🤗 3 Quote Link to comment
Seadragon
Love the close-ups! I just noticed your build and the whole Pico Reef tank + Tailspot Blenny + Xenia is something I want to try next. I love your diversity though, so cool. 1 Quote Link to comment

Yeah Cujo would have been fun in here, sadly I caught Hantu (clown) but that has gone down great at home. Ha I'm literally giving away my Xenia at the moment. At this point I'm considering a Xenia Fuge over putting it in the bin. My LFS wont take it, they have too much. Live rock is key to diversity, I dont mind taking off bubble algae and aiptasia for the other hitch hikers I get..... mostly 2 1 Quote Link to comment
Ratvan
Right, fairly sure the Acropora Efflo is a goner. As is the Hysterix, other than that all seems to be doing well, well except the Mystic Monti but I can see the very tips of the polyps on that one 2 Quote Link to comment
Ratvan
In other news around the tank, the "Emerald Green Jewel Yuma" is slowly starting to get colour back, the polyps are looking nice and inflated at the moment as well which is nice The Utter Chaos Paly has also popped out a new head (that is every 5 days so far) If anyone is considering getting into named Zoas, these would most effeminately be a good starting choice, very fast growing, also this is Hantu's new hosted Coral, yup a f#cking Zoa! My "GSP" not seen colour like it anywhere else, also have now shipped out to 4 or 5 people here in the UK so there are more frags out there.... A Might change the name of the Thread, not really a soft coral cube anymore is it? 3 Quote Link to comment
Chaozu
That “GSP” might be an encrusting gorgonian, briareum. 1 1 Quote Link to comment

Snow_Phoenix
I know I have a lot of catching up to do, but is Benny still in this tank? Tank looks good though. Sorry to hear about the SPS trouble. 😓 I'm still nervous about adding more SPS to my tank - thought of picking up a stick or two, but I keep hesitating on it. 😅 2 1 Quote Link to comment

It's ok on the SPS, need to learn sadly the learning curve includes a couple of losses. I wasn't too confident on the Acropora anyway but it was in a bundle with 3 other frags i wanted so worth an attempt at least, can just make out the smallest colour on the polyps. The Hysterix is confusing me as I can see Polyps but 0 colour on the coral itself. Think light is too strong? But it is on the base of the tank I'm hoping that this is just a part of them acclimating to my lights. Next step will be deciding where to mount them and what I am going to try and do... Need to get that Pico set up sharpish 2 Quote Link to comment
Ratvan
So lost a few of the SPS since I went away on Holiday, the person who looks after the pets (Cats, Rabbit, Chicken, Fish) did a really great job if a little more heavy handed with feeding than I would want to be (they have a 7 year old and I have "Nemo") The rest are coming along nicely Accidentally fragged the Turbipora as well by mistake (again) 3 Quote Link to comment
Ratvan
So been thinking about the upgrade for this tank, I have a "standard" 60 Litres (15 Gallon) Rectangle tank that measures 24x12x12 inches. Which is currently Freshwater but I am working on re homing the freshwater fish and going to a single larger tank at home (money saving due to MTS). So as a result on this i have been "window shopping" for equipment to convert this to Salt. Considering making a switch to a T5 Lighting System Tank: 24x12x12 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ciano-BLACK-Tropical-Glass-Aquarium/dp/B0791JXL6P/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=ciano+60+led&qid=1575369979&s=pet-supplies&sr=1-1 Light: 60CM 4 Tube T5 Fixture https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0183GF8Q8/?coliid=I340G6IC1IL0UP&colid=2RAZLTPM0K2AO&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it Need to decide on bulbs Filter: Cascade 200GPH HOB https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07DCFX2KC/?coliid=I31B26KC4BQZWZ&colid=2RAZLTPM0K2AO&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it Wave: Jebao CP-25 Crossflow https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07VFGXNW2/?coliid=I1N8YULEH5AUNN&colid=2RAZLTPM0K2AO&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it So really I am making a Fluval Evo without the back chamber, and slightly larger capacity Stocking will be getting a mate for Hantu (smaller Clown - undecided on type apart from Occellaris) and maybe another fish if one catches my eye like Firefish or something Quote Link to comment

Might have found some more Pipe Organ Corals that I hope are different colours Found a couple of interesting things that i could do with some help on Oh man, those are some cool selections and no mistake. The first might be very difficult though! Siphonogorgia is a genus of gorgonian-like soft corals that generally inhabit deeper tropical waters or shaded fore-reef areas, where they project from rocky outcrops that are swept by strong currents. They are non-photosynthetic, and therefore are obligate planktivores. I have not encountered very much literature regarding their care but I have to imagine that they are quite challenging to keep alive, as they likely require vigorous flow, moderate to low light, and a steady supply of planktonic foods. Definitely not a livestock choice for the faint of heart. I think they would be especially difficult to keep in a pico. The second one, which I assume is a so-called blue coral (Heliopora), is likely much easier to keep but is a bit misleading - it is an octocoral, which makes it closely related to soft corals like leathers and gorgonians, but it does indeed secrete a stony exoskeleton just like more typical reef-building corals do. Blue coral is the only octocoral known to build a hard skeleton in this way. It is not soft at all, despite being quite closely related to soft corals. 2 1 Quote Link to comment

I'm glad you chimed in on the Sea Whip, hmmm NPS..... might try and find some reading material or reefers that have it here. Yeah that's a Blue Coral, also develops a film like leathers that sheds off as well as having a blue skeleton 1 Quote Link to comment
Ratvan
Almost done with the Aiptasia, then can frag that rock. Need some frag plates and some more suction cups..... 4 Quote Link to comment

They got direct contact, and interestingly the blue coral developed some sticky tentacles to likely bond the acro. It damaged the acro so bad. 1 1 Quote Link to comment

Ratvan
So decided to upgrade the lighting today. No real reason other than I am bored and realised that the frags I ordered for the 2.5G won't arrive until after the office has shut for Christmas. So the A80 is up, programmed and running in a 14 day 5% acclimation mode. All the corals seem to be doing as good at the moment as they were before the swap. Yuma is now showing yellows as well as greens and the Zoas don't look as Cartoon bright as they did. Thinking about setting up another Pico for my Xenia. Managed to catch the below shot of it splitting before I made sure it attached to the glass and not the rock SPS look really nice, especially the unknown Psamacora and sunset Montipora. In other news. We all know how bad I am with ordering off amazon. A 25kg box of rocks arrived from Taiwan today. I ordered in October. 😁 3 Quote Link to comment
