@DymondIt sounds like you could use some more reading materials to increase your basic knowledge.  (That's how we all start out!)

 

If you can get a book from the LFS or from your library...or even order something, I think you'll find it tremendously helpful.

 

Martin A Moe's classic "Marine Aquarium Handbook: Beginner to Breeder" is a great starter that covers everything you'll need to know.   We can always fill in the gaps or (attempt to) answer questions it leaves you with.

 

Once upon a time this was standard reading before starting a saltwater tank.  It still should be IMO. 😊
