Ok, so, update time. Saturday was my birthday and also happened to be the day of the world wide corals superstore grand opening, so I headed down there and had a pretty awesome time. It was crowded for sure, but they had the farm open which was amazing and really thinned out the crowds. Of course, I ended up leaving with some corals, namely an Acan Echinata, a Blasto welsi and, because of a combination of over confidence, poor impulse control and just general excitement, a nice little pice of Neon Green Stylophora. I ended up giving the echinata frag to my friend who has a better spot for it after seeing the sweepers come out. The goodie bag I got there was awesome too.

Goodie bag contents:

The cherry on top is I got to meet Jake Adams of reefbuilders!

But that wasnt all, I also visited oceans direct, an lfs near me and they had some killer deals. Ended up leaving with a chunky acan frag, a piece of meteor shower cyphastrea, and a little frag of pandora palys for around 50$ bucks. They also have some pretty crazy "designer" zoas on their cheap frag rack and a bunch of really killer ultra rics for 29$. Theyre almost all pushing 2" too! I cant stop...

I'm pretty sure I'm going too fast. I said I wanted to be patient with this tank, and I'm kinda doing the opposite of that, so I'm gonna try to cool it with the coral additions for now. I think I'm gonna order a Hanna alk checker since I added so much stony stuff.

I want to add a shrimp at some point here, but I'm still deciding on the species I want. I'm either going to go with a skunk or blood red cleaner or a trio of sexy shrimp, but I need to read more about them. I don't think I want a fish in this tank, I like being able to feed extremely sparingly, and I think the fact that I've only fed this tank like three times so far is why I haven't had any issues with GHA or cyano or anything like that.

And now for the pics, I want to hear everyones thoughts on the placement of stuff so far. The only thing im really worried about is the stylo being right above the toadstool, I should probably address that.

I think it looks good. Maybe just shift that stylo to the left a bit.

Tank looks really really good !!!

I wanted to go to the opening but I knew it was going to be a mad house..but only being 20 minutes from the new store I may go this weekend and check it out.

I would definitely move that Stylo over a inch or 2.

Thanks and yea, I'm gonna have to bust the stylo off and move it. I just hope the glue isnt too strong to break with my fingers.

Thanks! Yea the opening was pretty packed, but with the farm open, it thinned things out pretty well. It was really only shoulder to shoulder right in front of the fish systems. The staff also handled things really well given the circumstances. Definitely go check it out. I liken it to the apple store of reefing.

Update: Remember all that stuff i said about patience and stability? Yea, well... i completely upturned this tank and moved it into the 9g rimless tank that used to be the freshwater jungle tank mentioned earlier. Setting this thing up in the 5g was a bit of a mistake in the first place, because I intended on transferring to the 9g eventually and I shouldve just done that from the start. Anyways, Im currently dealing with a bacterial bloom in the 9g, but I'll save that for a new thread. Consider this tank retired.
