NZ Reefer
I have a 90L (30gal) tank with: Purple Dottyback x2 Clowns Red Firefish Yellow clown goby The Purple Dottyback is very aggressive but only towards the Red Firefish. It recently bit the top fin off the firefish. I don't have a sump or I would put in there for now. Any ideas? So far I have come up with the following - add more rock - put a divider in for now - add a sump and remove it - add a bigger fish (don't really want to do this as the tank is small) - get rid of the dottyback Quote Link to comment
mcarroll
Tank pic? Fish pic? Without seeing, I'd say any of those ideas could work....aside from getting a bigger fish. Forget that one. 😉 Could also get rid of the Firefish. Quote Link to comment
Clown79
Orchid dottyback have been known to either be aggressive or semi aggressive. Such a shame cause they are gorgeous. The firefish is very passive so it's a perfect fish to pick on and being somewhat similar colouring adds an issue. Some of your methods may work but the other option or only choice is rehoming one. 2 Quote Link to comment
Tamberav
Bring it back to the LFS....those fish can be down right murderous in a nano. Once it kills the firefish it may pick a new target. 2 Quote Link to comment

Humblefish
Most dottybacks stake out a hole in a rock, and defend it like a little wolverine. 1 Quote Link to comment
